It is learned from the news coverage of August 23, 2022 that, 3 HPG militants died in clashes in Metina area of the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government on July 5, 2022.
(08/203) People Injured by Police Fire in Istanbul…
It was learned from the news coverage of August 23, 2022 that a person named S. A., who was detained in Bağcılar district of Istanbul and taken to the Güneşli Police Station, was injured by the gunfire opened by the police officers on the grounds that he was trying to take the gun of a police officer and escape with it. It is reported that another person named A. I., who was in custody at the police station, also injured in the incident.
Bağcılar District Governorate made the following statement: “S. A., who was detained as the perpetrator of an injury, took an officer’s gun and attempted to escape from the building by shooting at random at Güneşli Police Headquarters today at around 03.00. As a result of the fire opened by the person, a person named A. I. who was under guard in relation to another incident was injured (…) S. A. was neutralized by fire by our officers. A. I. and the suspect S. A., who were injured in the incident, were taken to the hospital.”

It is learned from the news coverage of August 22, 2022 that, Emir Karakum, a prisoner in Samsun Bafra T Type Prison was subjected to torture and ill-treatment of the correction officers.
It is learned from the news coverage of August 22, 2022 that, Hakan Tunç, a prisoner in Ankara Sincan F Type Prison was subjected to physical violence of the correction officers for he replaced the bunk bed.

It is learned that the appeal made on August 23, 2022 to chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by the lawyers of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, in order to visit him was not responded.

It is learned from the news coverage of August 23, 2022 that, in the Güre village of Edremit district of Balıkesir, racist symbols were drawn and threat messages were written on the walls of Alevi persons’ houses.
(08/207) Police Intervention to a Protest in Istanbul…
The police used tear gas and rubber bullets to intervene against the people protesting against the demolition of their houses by the municipality in the Tokatköy neighbourhood of Beykoz district of Istanbul on August 22, 2022. It is learned that one child was subjected to physical violence by the police during the intervention. It is also reported that the police prevented Birgün and KRT TV reporters from taking pictures and forced the journalists out of the area. 16 people were detained by the police.

5 people who were detained by the gendarmerie intervening into the protest against the Geothermal Power Plant, which is intended to be built on agricultural lands in the Mezeköy village of Köşk district of Aydın, on 22 August 2022, are released after statement procedures.

On August 23, 2022, 6 people are detained in house raids in Ankara on the grounds of social media posts about the events taking place in the North and East Syria.

It is learned that on August 20, 2022, Mardin Derik Penal Court of Peace imposed a broadcast ban on the traffic accident in Derik district of Mardin on August 20, 2022 which killed 21 people.
(08/211) Cancellation of Official Announcement and Advertisement Right…
The Press Advertisement Institution (BİK) cancelled the right to publish official advertisements and advertisements of Evrensel newspaper on August 22, 2022. It is learned that the reason for the cancellation was that Evrensel newspaper did not fulfil the minimum actual sales requirement of four thousand copies, more than one newspaper was purchased from dealers, has corporate subscriptions and the registry were not kept regularly.
Evrensel newspaper could not publish any official announcement since September 2019, due to the ban decision of the BİK for official announcements and advertisements.

It is learned that the news reports about the divorce case of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) Erzurum MP, published on https://www.odatv4.com, https://www.birgun.net, https://www.yenicaggazetesi.com.tr websites are banned to access by Ankara Gölbaşı Penal Court of Peace on August 19, 2022.
(08/213) Prohibition of Entry to and Exit from Mezeköy Neighbourhood in Aydın…
It is learned that the district governorate’s office in the Köşk district of Aydın made an announcement on August 23, 2022, and banned the entrance to and exit from the Mezeköy neighbourhood, apart from the residents, for 7 days, on the grounds of the protest against the geothermal power plant (GPP) that is intended to be built in the region.
