(07/109) Protesters on Trial in İzmir…
According to the news appeared in the press on 24 July 2015, a court case was launched against 81 persons for taking part in a demonstration staged in Alsancak quarter of İzmir to protest in the killing of Ahmet Atakan by unidentified persons on 10 September 2013 in Hatay.
The indictment wants the defendants to be sentenced for “violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations”, “resisting security forces”, and “damaging public property”. İzmir Penal Court of First Instance No 22 will start to hear the case.
(07/110) Operations and Attacks in the Southeast…
The police officer Tansu Aydın died, police officer Ali Karahan was seriously wounded during an armed attack on 23 July2015 against a control point in Şehitlik quarter of Diyarbakır.
The police officers Feyyaz Yumuşak and Okan Acar were found shot to death at their home on 23 July 2015 in Ceylanpınar district of Şanlıurfa. Apocu İntikam Timi (Revenge Team of Apo) claimed the attack in the name of PKK. 3 persons who were among 7 persons detained after the attack were arrested on 27 July 2015.
Turkish air forces organised airstrikes on 24 July 2015 against the IS/ISIS emplacements in Syria after the ISIS/IS attacks in Turkey. The air forces also attacked PKK camps on Kandil Mountain in Iraq. The civilians were reportedly attacked during the airstrikes. PKK announced that 2 militants died and 2 militants were wounded during the attacks.
HPG press centre made an announcement and declared that cease fire was meaningless after the attack. Airstrikes continued on 25 and 26 July 2015.
A police vehicle was attacked with a rocket launcher on 24 July 2015 in Karşıyaka quarter of Şemdinli district in Hakkari. 2 police officers were seriously wounded during the attack.
A hand made bomb was thrown on the night of 24 July 2015 into the garden of Bismil Security Directorate in Diyarbakır. 7 police officers were wounded.
On 25 July 2015, PKK militants closed the road between Diyarbakır and Bingöl in Abalı region and abducted one police officer. The same day, 3 paramedics were abducted in Tekman district of Erzurum. One worker was also abducted on 25 July2015 in Silopi district of Şırnak.
A blast bomb was thrown on 24 July 2015 to the security point in front of Kozluk district Governorate in Batman. One police officer and one security guard were wounded.
A bomb vehicle attacked a military convoy on 25 July 2015 in Lice district of Diyarbakır. 2 soldiers died and 4 soldiers were wounded during the attack.
Traffic Control Branch of Security Directorate in Nusaybin district of Mardin was attacked on 26 July 2015 with long barrelled weapons and explosives. 5 police officers were wounded during the attack.
On 27 July 2015, the security point in front of Erciş district Governorate in Van was attacked. 2 police officers were wounded during the armed attack.
An armoured military vehicle was attacked on 27 July 2015 nearby Tendürek Mountain in Çaldıran district of van. One soldier was wounded during the attack.
An armed attack was organised against the vehicle of Major Aslan Kulaksız, Gendarmerie Commander in Malazgirt district of Muş, when his wife and child was in the vehicle. Aslan Kulaksız was seriously wounded during the attack and died in the hospital.
(07/111) Massacre in Suruç…
According to the news appeared in the press, Özlem Yılmaz who allegedly involved the bomb attack in Suruç along with Abdurrahman Alagöz was detained by the police some one month before the attack. Although she confessed about her being member to IS/ISIS, she was released. Özlem Yılmaz was reportedly detained again on 24 July 2015 in Manavgat district of Antalya.
Members of Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) Mahir Can Gültekin and Muhammed Halit Kaya, and Polish Matevsz Raczkiewic were detained on 22 July 2015 when they arrived to Suruç.
Meanwhile, Şanlıurfa Peace Penal Court take the decision of confidentiality on the investigation concerning the Suruç massacre on the grounds that examination of the investigation files may endanger the purpose of the investigation.
(07/112) Operations throughout Turkey…
A coordination centre was founded at the Prime Ministry after the national security meeting held on 24 July 2015 and detention operations were started throughout Turkey. The meeting was organised after the attack of IS/ISIS in Suruç, the killing of a non-commissioned officer by IS/ISIS on Syrian border, and PKK claimed the killings of 2 police officers in Ceylanpınar of Şanlıurfa.
The operation were allegedly against IS/ISIS, PKK, DHKP-C (Revolutionary People’s Liberation Party – Front), and MLKP (Marxist Leninist Communist Party). According to the press release by the coordination centre on 27 July 2015, 1050 persons were detained. The reasons for the detentions of 789 persons were not disclosed. According to the release, in connection with PKK 542 persons, in connection with IS/ISIS 148 persons, in connection with MLKP 14 persons, and 66 persons for taking part in several demonstrations were detained in 34 provinces. 7 HDP members in Bursa, 1 person in Diyarbakır, 2 persons in Nusaybin district of Mardin, and Zeliha Akkuş in Ankara were arrested on 27 July 2015.
(07/113) Extra-judicial Execution in İstanbul…
As a part of the operations conducted throughout Turkey, the police conducted a house raid on 25 July 2015 in Bağclar district of İstanbul in connection with a DHKP-C (Revolutionary People’s Liberation Party – Front) investigation. Günay Özarslan was shot to death by the police during the raid. 15 were found on the body of Günay Özarslan during the examination in Forensic Institute.
After the execution of Günay Özarslan, the police also intervened a group of solidarity association of prisoners’ relatives TAYAD members who wanted to take the body from Forensic Institute for funeral and detained 5 persons.
The police did not allow for 2 days the funeral of Günay Özarslan to be organised in Gazi quarter of İstanbul and used fire arms to disperse the crowd. At least 4 persons were wounded during the interventions. After the negotiations on 27 July 2015, Günay Özarslan was buried after funeral ceremony in the quarter.
(07/114) Web Sites Banned…
On 25 July 2015, Telecommunications Communication Presidency (TİB) suspended access to 96 web sites on the allegations of “making propaganda of an illegal organisation”. The decision was taken for the news released on the web sites criticising the recent military operations allegedly started against armed illegal organisation. Access to 23 twitter accounts was also suspended.
The banned web sites include web sites of sendika.org, Jin News Agency (JİNHA), daily Özgür Gündem, Dicle News Agency, Hawar News Agency, Etkin News Agency (ETHA), Fırat News Agency, yuksekovahaber.com.

According to the news appeared in the press, a female from Rojava died when military troops opened fire when she wanted to pass the border from Afrin canton to Turkey on 23 July 2015 to provide humanitarian needs.
(07/116) Protests against Detention Operations Attacked…
The police intervened a group of persons on 25 July 2015 in Ankara when they wanted to start a sit-in action to protest in recent operations and detentions. 11 persons were detained during the intervention. The police also dispersed the protests later same day and detained 58 persons.
6 of the detainees were arrested on 27 July 2015 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation”.
4 persons were detained when the police intervened a demonstration on 27 July 2015 in İzmir.
(07/117) Killing by Unidentified Assailants in İstanbul…
Mürsel Gül was shot to death by unidentified persons on 21 July 2015 in Karayolları quarter of Gaziosmanpaşa district of İstanbul. According to the news appeared on several news portals, Mürsel Gül was allegedly killed by PKK for being member of IS/ISIS. Mürsel Gül was allegedly wounded while fighting for IS/ISIS in Kobanê and praised the attack in Suruç on social media. The attack was not claimed by any organisation.
(07/118) IS/ISIS Attack in Kilis…
IS/ISIS members opened fire against Turkish military troops on 23 July 2015 from Eyeşe (Ar-rai) town in Syria to Elbeyli district of Kilis. The attack turned into an armed clash, non-commissioned officer Yalçın Nane and 2 IS/ISIS members died, 2 soldiers were wounded.
Following the national security meeting after the attack, 35 IS/ISIS members were killed during the airstrikes.
Tarık Sülo Cevizci, Syrian Turkmen Movement Vice Chair, alleged that the clash broke out when Turkish soldiers did not allow the entrance of a wounded IS/ISIS member to Turkey.
(07/119) Protests against Suruç Massacre Prevented…
On 22 July 2015 in Yüksekova district of Hakkari, the police intervened the protests continued after the funeral of teacher Süleyman Aksu who died during the bomb attack in Suruç and detained 4 persons.
11 persons were wounded during the police intervention against the protests staged on 23 July 2015 in Tarsus district of Mersin. 6 police officers were also wounded when the protesters counteracted the security forces.
One person in İstanbul, 7 persons in Varto district of Muş, and 7 persons in İzmir were detained on the night of 23 July 2015.
7 members of Socialist Democracy Party (SDP) were detained during the demonstration on 24 July 2015 in İzmir.
The police intervened the demonstration staged in Eskişehir on 26 July 2015 and detained 39 persons.
The police attacked a condolence tent on 27 July 2015 in Ankara and detained 8 persons.
(07/120) Killings by Unidentified Persons in Diyarbakır…
Fesih Canikli who was heavily wounded during an armed attack on 9 June 2015 against the premises of Free and Equal Citizens (Özgür ve Eşit Yurttaş) association in Şehitlik quarter of Diyarbakır died in the hospital on 22 July 2015.
Unidentified persons organised armed attacks on 9 June 2015 in Diyarbakır. The first attack was organised against Aytaç Baran (38) in front of his house. Aytaç Baran was Chairperson of the association İlim Hizmet Yardımlaşma ve Araştırma Derneği (Yeni İHYA-DER) known to be close to political party HÜDA-PAR. After the attack, a group of armed persons opened fire in the neighbourhood against the houses and the premises of association Eşit Özgür Yurttaş (Equal Free Citizen) association which led to death of 4 persons.

Hamit Denli (50) who was reportedly a supporter of Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) was wounded during an armed attack on 23 July 2015 in Adana. The attackers escaped with a motorcycle.

Murat (Mahmut) Tekin (46) was shot to death by the police on 23 July 2015 in Söke district of Aydın. According to the news appeared in the press, his neighbours complained about him for disturbing the residents of the neighbourhood. And he was shot for resisting police officers with a knife when they wanted to detain him.

Abdullah Özdal (21) was shot at chest and died when he was on the balcony of his house during a police intervention against a demonstration staged on 26 July 2015 in Cizre district of Şırnak to protest in the recent operations.

On 26 July 2015, the police intervened the action of workers who were fired from a company for Başiskele district of Kocaeli for changing the union they were registered to. 6 workers were detained during the intervention.

Headquarters of Eğitim-Sen, union in public education sector, was raided on 25 July 2015 in Ankara. The raid was reportedly conducted on the allegations that there were persons in the headquarters wounded during IS/ISIS attacks in Kobanê. 11 wounded persons kept in the headquarters and 19 executives of the union in several cities were detained.
The police also intervened a group of persons who wanted to protest in the raid and detained 46 persons.

Police officer Muhammed Fatih Sivri was shot and wounded on 26 July 2015 when a building was raided by the police during the intervention against groups gathered for the funeral of Günay Özarslan in Gazi quarter of Sultangazi district in İstanbul. Muhammed Fatih Sivri was shot at his chest three times and died in the hospital.

Dündar İrfanoğlu who was detained on the allegations of killing the police officer Muhammet Fatih Sivri on 27 July 2015 during the incident in Gazi quarter in İstanbul was allegedly subjected to heavy torture in custody. According to the allegations, his face became unrecognisable.
