It is learned from the news coverage of October 21, 2021 that, 2 HPG militants died in an air operation of Turkish Armed Forces to the rural areas of Şırnak on August 9, 2021.

It is learned that 3 people got wounded 6 cars which were crashed by a police armoured vehicle in Sarıyer district of Istanbul on October 24, 2021.
(10/243) Torture and Ill-Treatment in Diyarbakır…
It is learned from the news coverage of October 23, 2021 that, 2 people (Bekir Nadiroğlu and Birsen Nadiroğlu) were subjected to torture and ill-treatment in their house which was raided by the police in Bismil district of Diyarbakır.
Şervan Nadiroğlu stated the following to the press: “Our house in Bismil was raided again, and my mother and father were subjected to physical violence of the police. They found it suspicious that they were alone home, and they were asked whether their children were in the mountains and they were insulted.”

It is learned from the news coverage of October 22, 2021 that, a person named Tacettin Kılıç was threatened and forced to be a police informant by persons who present themselves as police officers.
Tacettin Kılıç made a press declaration at the Human Rights Association (IHD) Istanbul office and stated the following: “Someone called me presenting himself as security director of Istanbul and said ‘We want to talk to you’. And when I went there, they forced me to be a police informant. They said, ‘A special squad came for you’. They threatened me when I rejected it (…) My family was followed, they kept following and threatening for 3 months.”

It is learned from the news coverage of October 22, 2021 that, a reader of Kaldıraç magazine was forced to be a police informant by persons who present themselves as police officers in Izmir.
A representative of Kaldıraç magazine stated the following in the press declaration held at IHD Izmir office: “One of our reader was stopped by two persons who present themselves as police officers, as our reader was leaving Bozyaka Security Directorate after making an official statement. Although our reader rejected to have a conversation with them, the police officers walked together. They tried to criminalize Kaldıraç magazine and offered our reader to leave the magazine (…) Although our reader kept walking and not listening to them, they offered to sit somewhere. And they stated that they have called our reader’s family.”

It is learned from the news coverage of October 23, 2021 that, Şaban Kaygusuz, a prisoner with one hand and one leg, who was transferred from Diyarbakır D Type Prison to Kayseri Bünyan T Type Prison No 1 under coercion on October 19, 2021; was forced to strip search and was subjected to torture and ill-treatment as he rejected it.
It is learned from the news coverage of October 24, 2021 that, Abdurrahim Çetinkaya in Izmir Şakran L Type Prison No 3 was transferred to Afyon T Type Prison No 1 under coercion on August 1, 2021.
It is learned from the news coverage of October 24, 2021 that, Yadişen Karabulak, former Van co-chair of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, was transferred from Van T Type Prison to Mersin Tarsus Women’s Prison under coercion on October 21, 2021.
It is learned from the news coverage of October 24, 2021 that, a relative of a prisoner kept in Istanbul Silivri Prison No 5 was forced to strip search at the entrance of prison.

It is learned that the appeal made on October 22, 2021 to chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan’s lawyers, family and tutelary in order to visit him was not responded.
(10/248) Police Intervention to a Protest in Van…
On October 23, 2021, doctor Rümeysa Berin Şen lost her life in a traffic accident in Ankara. The police intervened the press declaration of Turkish Medical Association to commemorate her, at Medical Faculty of Van Yüzüncü Yıl University on October 25, 2021 and detained HRFT physician and Van-Hakkari Medical Chamber chair Hüseyin Yaviç and HRFT Van Center secretary Sevim Çiçek. Detained 2 people are released after statement procedures on the same day. All events are banned in Van for 1804 days since November 21, 2016.
(10/249) Police Intervention to a Protest in Istanbul…
On October 22, 2021, the private security guards intervened the students having a sit-in in front of the rectorate office to protest new rector appointment to Boğaziçi University by the President; and seized the tents of students. And then the police intervened and detained 45 people by using physical violence. It is learned that HSP Istanbul MP Hüda Kaya was not allowed in the campus by private security guards. Detained 45 people are released on the same day provided that 3 of them will be on judicial control conditions.

On October 22, 2021, 4 people (Behçet Bayhan, Hakan Mercan, Yavuz Çelik and Nuvar Kaymaz) are detained in house raids in Lice district of Diyarbakır. The reason of detention is unknown.

Musician Abdullah Karakaş is detained in Diyarbakır on October 24, 2021 It is learned that the police searched his house and seized his musical archive. The reason of detention is unknown.
(10/252) Suruç Massacre Case…
The final trial of the case on Urfa Heavy Penal Court No 5, for the massacre in Suruç where 33 people died on July 20, 2015, is held on October 22, 2021.
Yakup Şahin, the only arrestee defendant, joined the trial from Urfa T Type Prison via sound and vision system. The court sentenced Yakup Şahin to heavy life imprisonment on 34 counts, to 27 years on 70 counts and a penalty fine of 40,000 Turkish Liras on the charge of ‘wilful murder and attempt to wilful murder’.
The court decided to make a criminal complaint against Koray Türkay, Şahin Tümüklü, Çağla Seven, Fethi Aydın and lawyer Sezin Uçar on the charges of ‘insult’ and ‘threat’ in their expressions during the trial.

The trial of the case against Republican People’s Party (CHP) Istanbul chair Canan Kaftancıoğlu for photographs of house of Fahrettin Altun, Communications Director Republic of Turkey, is held at Istanbul Anadolu Penal Court of First Instance No 55 on October 22, 2021.
After defence hearings the court decided to wait for the writ sent to Istanbul Anadolu Penal Court of First Instance No 13 to consolidate the cases, and adjourned the trial.

It is learned that Pınar Yıldırım, also known as ‘Pucca’, is sentenced by Istanbul Anadolu Penal Court of First Instance No 21 on October 22, 2021, to 5 months and 18 days on the charge of ‘publicly degrading a section of the public on grounds of social class, race, religion, sect, gender or regional differences’ in her social media posts.

It is learned that the concert was held in HDP’s Adana office.

Urfa Governorate made a declaration on October 21, 2021 and banned all ‘demonstrations, meetings, marches, press declarations, interviews, video recordings, holding banners, chanting slogans, entering the prison in clothes with writings and symbols on, recording with cell phones, taking pictures, opening stands, behaving in a demonstrative way’ in prison compounds and in the areas closer than 1 km to prisons in the city, between October 21 to 28, 2021.

On October 22, 2021, 14 people are detained in operations covering 15 cities through an Ankara based investigation; 67 people are detained in operations covering 37 cities through an Ankara based investigation and 17 people are detained in operations covering 12 cities through a Konya based investigation.

The Ministry of Health declared that 228 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and the daily number of Covid-19 cases is 28,192 as of October 22, 2021.
The Ministry of Health declared that 217 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and the daily number of Covid-19 cases is 26,217 as of October 23, 2021.
The Ministry of Health declared that 195 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and the daily number of Covid-19 cases is 24,792 as of October 24, 2021.
The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 69,538 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 7,813,328 as of October 24, 2021.
It is learned that 2 health workers (doctor Lokman Toksoy in Erzurum and Hüseyin Taflan in Trabzon) lost their lives due to Covid-19 on October 22, 2021.
It is learned from the news coverage of October 22, 2021, 14 prisoners in Urfa Siverek T Type Prison tested positive for Covid-19 after the ward searches.
