(04/153) Operations and Attacks…
It is learned from news coverage of April 18, 2025 that 3 militants died in a clash between Turkish Armed Forces units and HPG militants in Qandil region of Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) on January 18, 2025.
Ministry of National Defence (MSB) announced that 1 soldier (Berat Mecit Day) died in a clash between Turkish Armed Forces units and HPG militants during “Claw-Kilit” operation in KRG on February 3, 2024.

It is learned that a soldier (Şükrü Taş) on duty in Beşiri district of Batman was wounded on April 18, 2025 due to an accidental discharge of his weapon and died in hospital on April 23, 2023.
(04/155) Earthquake in Istanbul
Ministry of Interior announced that 151 people were injured in the 6.2 magnitude earthquake that hit Istanbul on April 23, 2025.
It is learned that tents set up in Taksim park in Beyoğlu district of Istanbul for the earthquake were removed by the police.

It is learned from news coverage of April 24, 2025 that Hüseyin Sürgeç, a prisoner in Tekirdağ F Type Prison No 2, was subjected to disciplinary proceedings for sending a fax to Veysi Aktaş, a prisoner in İmralı Prison, and was sentenced to 11 days of solitary confinement.

It is learned from the news coverage of April 22, 2025 that, the release of Cemil İvrendi, a prisoner in Kırşehir S Type Prison, who has completed the execution of his life sentence, is postponed for 6 months for the second time by Prison Administration and Monitoring Board (CİGK).
(04/158) Police Intervention to a Protest in Ankara…
On April 23, 2025, the police intervened the march in Çankaya district of Ankara, on the grounds of lack of precautions for disasters after the earthquake in Istanbul and protesting the removal of tents in Taksim park by the police, and detained 11 people. It is learned that 1 person was wounded during the intervention. Detained people were released after statement procedures at the police on the same day.

The police intervened the march on April 22, 2025 at Anadolu University campus in Eskişehir, about the students arrested for protesting arrest of Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, and detained 3 people (Rojhat Demirdöken, Tevfik Derviş Aksakallı and Talha Selim Çağlar). Detained people are released by the criminal court of peace on judicial control conditions on April 23, 2025.

On April 24, 2025, it is learned that the police prevented the march in Samsun to protest arrest of Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.
(04/161) Detained Lawyer in Istanbul…
Serkan Günel, lawyer of Murat Ongun who was arrested through the investigation against Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, is detained on April 24, 2025 on the charges of ‘attempting to influence the trial’ and ‘violating the confidentiality of the investigation’. It is learned that lawyer Kazım Yiğit Akalın is also detained through the same investigation and a detention warrant is issued for another lawyer named Yiğit Gökçehan. Serkan Günel and Kazım Yiğit Akalın are released on the same day after statement procedures at the prosecutor’s office.
(04/162) Co-Mayors on Trial in Van…
The final hearing of the lawsuit filed against Neslihan Şedal and Abdullah Zeydan, Co-Mayors of Van Metropolitan Municipality Neslihan Şedal and Abdullah Zeydan, who were replaced by trustees, due to the call they made to voters living outside the city before the local elections on March 31, 2024, was held at Van Criminal Court of First Instance on April 22, 2025. The court acquitted both co-mayors.
(04/163) Journalist on Trial in Diyarbakır…
The trial of the case against Mezopotamya Agency (MA) editor Abdurrahman Gök continued on April 22, 2025 at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 5. The indictment demands sentence for Abdurrahman Gök on the charges of ‘being an illegal organization member’ and ‘making propaganda for an illegal organization’. The court decided to continue the ban on leaving the country and adjourned the trial to September 11, 2025.
Abdurrahman Gök was detained in Diyarbakır on April 25, 2023 and arrested on April 27, 2023. The journalist was released at the hearing of the case against him at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 5 on December 5, 2023.

The trial of the case against Mehmet Ferhat Çelik, Editor-in-Chief and Osman Akın, Managing Editor of Yeni Yaşam newspaper, on the charges of ‘slander’ and ‘insult’ based on a news article published in the newspaper about Serhat Albayrak, continued on April 22, 2025 at Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No 2. The court adjourned the hearing to September 14, 2025.
(04/165) Indictments Against Swedish Citizen Journalist…
It is learned from news coverage of April 23, 2023 that Ankara Public Prosecutor’s Office prepared 2 separate indictments against Swedish citizen journalist Joakim Medin, who was detained at Istanbul Airport on March 27, 2025 and was arrested by the criminal court of peace on March 28, 2025.
The indictment on the charges of ‘being an illegal organization member’ and ‘making propaganda for an illegal organization’ is accepted by Ankara Heavy Penal Court No 17.
The indictment on the charge of ‘insulting the President’ is accepted by Ankara Penal Court of First Instance No 79. The first hearing of the case will be held on April 30, 2025.

On April 22, 2023, it is learned from news coverage of April 22, 2023 that Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office prepared an indictment against journalist Rasim Ozan Kütahyalı on the grounds of a social media post he made. The indictment demands Rasim Ozan Kütahyalı to be sentenced for ‘publicly spreading misleading information’.

JINNEWS reporter Rabia Önver gave her official statement at Van Provincial Security Directorate on April 22, 2025, through the investigation initiated by Van Public Prosecutor’s Office on the grounds of ‘provoking hatred and hostility among people’ through her social media posts.

The final hearing of the case against actor İlyas Salman, on the grounds of ‘insulting the President’ due to his expressions in an interview, was held at Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No 2 on April 22, 2025. The court sentenced İlyas Salman to 7.000 Turkish Liras judicial fine.

It is learned that the application of Republican People’s Party (CHP) for the march from the front of 1st Parliament to Anıtkabir in Ankara for April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day is rejected by Ankara Governorate on April 22, 2025.

On April 24, 2025, 6 people were detained in house raids conducted in Izmir through an investigation against the deep structuring of the organization.
