It is learned from the news coverage of October 21, 2024 that, although Hivzullah Mutlu, a prisoner in Ağrı Patnos L Type Prison, completed 30 years of his life sentence on July 14, 2024, his release which was postponed for 3 months on the grounds of not being in good behaviour, was postponed for a second time for 6 months on October 9, 2024.

Journalist Aysın Komitgan, who was detained on 21 October 2024 at Bursa Provincial Security Directorate Anti-Terrorism Department where she was invited to give her statement within the investigation initiated against her due to her remarks in a program on Fetullah Gülen’s death, was released by the criminal peace judgeship on 22 October 2024 on the charges of ‘making propaganda for an illegal organization’ and ‘praising an offense and offender’ with a ban on leaving the country and judicial control measures such as signing a petition.
The Ministry of Interior announced on 22 October 2024 that a total of 177 people were subjected to legal proceedings for the same reason.

It is learned that the indictment of Muğla Public Prosecutor’s Office against human rights and life defender Haluk Özsoy, on the grounds of the expressions in the text he read at the press statement organized by Muğla Labour and Democracy Forces on December 3, 2023, was accepted by Muğla Penal Court of First Instance No 6. The indictment demands a sentence for Haluk Özsoy on the charge of ‘publicly insulting the Government of the Republic of Turkey and judicial organs of the State’ under Article 301 of the Turkish Penal Code (TCK). The first hearing of the case will be held on 4 December 2024.
