The Ministry of Interior announced that 1 soldier (Burak Tortumlu) died in a crash between Turkish Armed Forces units and HPG militants in Tunceli on October 22, 2021.
It is learned from the news coverage of October 21, 2021 that 2 HPG militants died in an air operation of Turkish Armed Forces to the rural areas of Beytüşşebap district of Şırnak on September 7, 2021.

It is learned from the news coverage of October 21, 2021 that, the prisoners who reject to be forced to in-mouth search in Samsun Prison are not referred to hospitals in case of need.

It is learned that the appeal made on October 21, 2021 to chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan’s lawyers in order to visit him was not responded.

On October 15, 2021, 91 people have been detained in operations covering 15 cities through an Istanbul based investigation. 22 of them (Abdullah Özgün, Emre Ünlü, Eser Çelik, Mehmet Özdemir, Musa Kurt, Mustafa Yılmaz, Selda Özçellik, Sercan Çakır, Hakan Çelikkaya, Murat Çelik, Dehman Göçer, Murat Şahin, Özgür Göçek, İleri Kızılaltun, Hasan Karapınar, Gürkan Türkoğlu, Mehmet Tunçay, Furkan Murat Muşkaya, Mehmet Manas Doğanay, İsmail Cankat Özen, Sercan Sarıkaya, Uğur Berk Hazar) are arrested by the court on October 21, 2021. 44 people (Yunus Mutlutürk, Pelinsu Genç, Ecenaz Çet, Züleyha Aybay, Rıdvan Akbaş, Merve Kurt, Yeliz Kılıç, Ali Sinan Çağlar, Cem Dursun, Gürdoğan İşçi, Kamil Sarıkaya, Madımak Özen, Musa Aykanat, Nazife Onay, Necla Can, Nihat Yaman, Sevda Özdemir, Yılmaz Viraner, Alişan Gül, Göksel Fidan, Hasan Karakuş, Suzan Ümit, Hasan Basri Yıldız, Nesimi Gündoğdu, Alican Anlı, Bengi Avşar, Doğancan Kuru, Alican Toptaş, Altan Berdan Koç, Safigül Bolat, Ezgi Kul, Ceren Varlık, Yorum Kenci, Melek Akgün, Dilek Kaya, Ekim Can Yıldırım, Ali Yücel, Reha Yücel, Orhan Gül, Bergün Varan, Dilan Poyraz, Nagehan Kurt, Münevver Aşçı and Cansu Güneş Seferoğlu) are released on judicial control conditions.
(10/235) Detained HDP Members and Executives in Izmir for Social Media Posts…
On October 21, 2021, 17 people including the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Torbalı district co-chair Hüsnü Bitirmiş and HDP Karabağlar district co-chair Şerafettin Yetim are detained in house raids in Izmir, on the grounds of social media posts.
4 people are released after statement procedures on the same day.
(10/236) Journalists on Trial in Van…
The trial of the case against Mezopotamya News Agency reporters Zeynep Durgut, Adnan Bilen, Cemil Uğur and Jinnews reporter Şehriban Abi and journalist Nazan Sala is held at Van Heavy Penal Court No 5 on October 21, 2021.
The indictment demands sentence for 5 journalists on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’. After defence hearings the court adjourned the trial to January 6, 2022.
5 journalists who had made news reports on the allegation that 2 detainees were thrown from helicopter in Çatak district of Van, were detained on October 6, 2021 and 4 of them were arrested by the court on October 9, 2021. 4 arrested journalists were released at the first trail held on April 2, 2021.

The trial of the case against Nuriye Gülmen, who was one of the participators of “I Want My Job Back”, and Idil Cultural Center employees Rıdvan Akbaş and Yasemin Karadağ, is held at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 28 on October 21, 2021.
The court decided to continue detention of Nuriye Gülmen and adjourned the trial to January 13, 2021.
Nuriye Gülmen, Rıdvan Akbaş and Yasemin Karadağ were among 6 people who were detained by the police raiding Idil Cultural Center in Istanbul on August 5, 2021; and they were arrested by the court on August 11, 2020.

The trial of the case against musician Ferhat Tunç, on the grounds of ‘insulting Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım back then’ in social media posts, is held at Bakırköy Penal Court of First Instance No 16 on October 21, 2021. The court decided to issue a warrant for Ferhat Tunç and adjourned the trial to March 17, 2022.
(10/239) Umut Bookstore Case…
The trial of the case against sergeants Ali Kaya and Özcan İldeniz and Veysel Ateş, for the bombing attack on Umut Bookstore in Şemdinli district of Hakkari on November 9, 2005; is held at Van Heavy Penal Court No 1 on October 21, 2021.
The prosecutor declared legal opinion on the case and demanded acquittal of the defendants due to “lack of evidence”. The court adjourned the trial to December 20, 2021.
(10/240) Covid-19 Pandemic…
The Ministry of Health declared that 198 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and the daily number of Covid-19 cases is 28,465 as of October 21, 2021.
The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 68,898 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 7,734,127 as of October 21, 2021.
It is learned that 3 health workers (nurse Sevgül Memet in Bursa, İlknur Ünal and Elif Aydın Yamak in Samsun) lost their lives due to Covid-19 on October 21, 2021.
