It is learned from the news coverage of June 21, 2021 that, 1 militant died in a clash between Turkish Armed Forces and HPG militants in Metina area of Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government on May 14, 2021.

(06/213) Torture and Ill-Treatment in Prison…

It is learned from the news coverage of June 21, 2021 that, 30 people are kept in wards for 16 people in Balıkesir Burhaniye Prison.

(06/214) Meeting Request with Abdullah Öcalan Not Responded…

It is learned that the appeal made on June 21, 2021 to chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan’s lawyers in order to visit their client was not responded.

(06/215) Detained HDP Executive in Ağrı…

Cemal Akar, a provincial executive of Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) in Ağrı, is detained at Ağrı Provincial Directorate of Security where he went to make his official statement through an investigation on June 21, 2021. It is learned that the investigation was launched for Cemal Akar’s speech that he made at the press declaration about the attack to Izmir office of HDP where Deniz Poyraz was killed. Cemal Akar is released after statement procedures on the same day.

(06/216) Journalist on Trial in Sivas…

It is learned from the news coverage of June 21, 2021 that, the final trial of the case against Aslıhan Gencay, for she rejected strip search while she was being kept in Sivas Open Prison, is held at Sivas Penal Court of First Instance on June 14, 2021. The court sentenced Aslıhan Gencay to 6 months and 7 days on the charge of ‘resisting a public official to prevent duty’.

(06/217) Investigation Against Human Rights Defender and Journalists…

It is learned that Aydın Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation against the Human Rights Association co-chair Eren Keskin and journalists Ahmet Kanbal and Yağmur Kaya, on the charge of ‘turning a counterterrorism official into a target’ upon official complaint filed by lieutenant general Musa Çitil of Gendarmerie General Command. It is learned that journalist Ahmet Kanbal made his official statement through the investigation at Mardin Provincial Directorate of Security on June 21, 2021.

(06/218) Investigation Against a Person in Mersin for ‘Insulting the President’…

It is learned from the news coverage of June 21, 2021 that, Mersin Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation against a person on the charge of ‘insulting the President’ by a social media post saying “Where is 128 billion dollars”.

(06/219) Closure Case of HDP…

The Constitutional Court unanimously accepted the indictment seeking the closure of the HDP on June 21, 2021. The court rejected to take a cautionary judgement for the bank account of the party holding the treasury grants.

(06/220) People on Trial for Assault to CHP Chair in Ankara…

The trial of the case against 67 people, for the assault against Republican People’s Party (CHP) chair Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, is held at Çubuk Penal Court of First Instance No 2 on June 21, 2021. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu was assaulted by a group during a soldier’s funeral ceremony in Çubuk district of Ankara.

The court rejected to rule for non-jurisdiction decision as it was demanded by Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu’s lawyers and ruled to summon 4 defendants for the next trials. The court adjourned the trial to October 7, 2021.

(06/221) Ban of Events in Ağrı…

Ağrı Governorate made a declaration on June 21, 2021 and announced that indoor and open door assemblies, demonstrations, press declarations apart from those held by public institutions in front of their offices, opening tents and stands, sit-in protests, commemorations, festivals, concerts, plays, distributing leaflets, hanging banners and posters and so on are banned for 15 days as of June 18, 2021.

(06/222) Curfew in Bitlis…

Bitlis Governorate made a declaration and announced curfew in 19 villages as of 02.00 on June 21, 2021 until further notice. The governorate’s office made another declaration on the same day and lifted the curfew as of 20.00 on June 21, 2021.

The villages under curfew were: Ölçülü, Çayır, Yelkıran, Akbıyık, Kaval, Keklik, Karadal, Gökçe, Kaşıklar, Altınoluk, Yemişli, Aktay, Köprü, Bozpınar, Akbırakan, Boztepe, Konaç, Düzce, Yolalan.

(06/223) Covid-19 Pandemic…

The Ministry of Health declared that 51 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and 429 new Covid-19 ill patients were diagnosed on June 21, 2021. It is also declared that the daily number of Covid-19 cases is 5,294.

The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 49,236 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 5,375,593 as of June 21, 2021.
