According to news reports on October 20, 2025, a child named Ç.B. (17) was subjected to physical violence by police officers after chanting slogans in protest against an arrest warrant issued against him at the Van Courthouse. It was reported that lawyers who intervened in the incident were also threatened by the police.

According to news reports on October 20, 2025, it was learned that the release of an inmate named Mehmet Sayılgan, who was held in Tokat T-Type Prison and had completed his prison sentence on March 19, 2024, was postponed for the sixth time by the Prison Administration and Observation Board (CİGK) on the grounds that he had not “severed his ties with the organization” and It has been learned that it was adjourned for the sixth time for the reason of not being ready to integrate into society.
According to news reports on October 21, 2025, the release of Hakkı Ay, an inmate held at Elazığ No. 1 High Security Prison who had completed his prison sentence, was adjourned for six months by the CİGK on the grounds that he was “not remorseful” and had “not severed his ties with the organization.”

According to news reports on October 20, 2025, it was learned that five individuals were detained on October 17, 2025, in Van as a result of house raids, on the grounds that they were members of the organization. It was reported that four of the five individuals referred to the criminal court of first instance on October 20, 2025 (Emrullah Derin, Hozan Çiçek, Bedirhan Erol, and S.Ç) were released, while one (Ç.B. (17, m)) was detained on the grounds of “being a member of the organization.”

The trial of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was accused of having obtained his university diploma illegally, began on October 20, 2025, at the Istanbul Criminal Court of First Instance No. 59.
The indictment seeks Ekrem İmamoğlu’s punishment for the crime of “chain forgery of official documents.”
It was learned that Ekrem İmamoğlu and his lawyers decided not to attend the hearing after the court rejected their request for the hearing to be held in a large courtroom. The court later decided to move the hearing to a large courtroom. The court also refused to allow Ekrem İmamoğlu’s lawyer, Mehmet Pehlivan, who is in custody on another case, to connect to the hearing via SEGBİS. It was learned that Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was forcibly brought to the courtroom by court order, did not present a defense. The court adjourned the hearing until December 8, 2025.

According to news reports on October 20, 2025, among the 200 individuals, 40 of whom are detained, are Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat, Adana Metropolitan Mayor Zeydan Karalar, Adıyaman Mayor Abdurrahman Tutdere, Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer, Utku Caner Çaykara, Mayor of Avcılar; Kadir Aydar, Mayor of Ceyhan; and Oya Tekin, Mayor of Seyhan.
It was also reported that the prosecutor’s office prepared a draft indictment against Republican People’s Party (CHP) deputies Özgür Karabat and Burhanettin Bulut as part of the investigation and sent it to the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The indictment seeks punishment for the 200 individuals on charges of “membership in a criminal organization,” “bid rigging,” “document forgery,” “fraud,” “bribery,” and “money laundering.”

It was learned that on October 20, 2025, the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation against CHP Group Deputy Chair and Mersin MP Ali Mahir Başarır for his remarks directed at the President.

On October 20, 2025, the retrial of journalist İdris Yılmaz, whose sentence for insulting the President was overturned by the Court of Appeals, continued at the Van Erçiş Criminal Court of First Instance. The court adjourned the hearing until January 21, 2026.

The final hearing of the case against nine individuals, who were charged for participating in protests calling for the arrest of the Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor, was held at the Istanbul Criminal Court of First Instance No. 66 on October 20, 2025. The court acquitted the nine individuals of the charge of “violating Law No. 2911 on Meetings and Demonstrations.”
