It is learned from the news coverage of May 21, 2024, that prisoners in Marmara L Type Prison No 7 were subjected to strip searches after every open visit, the decision of ‘no prosecution’ was taken in the appeal to Silivri Public Prosecutor’s Office, and Evrensel newspaper was not given to prisoners in prison for 2 years.
It is learned from the news coverage of May 21, 2024, that PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, Ömer Hayri Konar, Veysi Aktaş, and Hamili Yıldırım in İmralı Prison were given a 6-month ban on lawyer visits.

On May 21, 2024, 27 people including Gazete Patika reporter Ali Kadir Güler and members of different political parties and initiatives were detained in house raids in Istanbul on the grounds that they wanted to march from Saraçhane to Taksim during May 1 celebrations. On October 20, 2023, Penal Department No 1 of Diyarbakır Regional Court of Appeals reversed the acquittal verdict in the case against police officer K. B., on the killing of paper collector Recep Hantaş by police fire on April 14, 2019; and the final trial of the case was held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 7 on May 21, 2024. The court ruled that there is no need to sentence police officer K. B.

The first trial of the case against journalist Ferit Aslan, on the grounds of a news report he made, started on May 21, 2024, at Mardin Penal Court of First Instance No 2. The court acquitted the journalist on the charge of ‘publicly disseminating misleading information’.

On May 20, 2024, Nevşehir Mayor Rasim Arı met with journalists in the municipality meeting hall and said, “We waste water a lot. Nevşehir is the city that may experience the most water shortage in the region, we will increase (the water fees of asylum seekers) by 250-300 percent. The wedding fee is 750 liras, we are making it 15 thousand liras. They can get married a lot. If anyone is uncomfortable in this city because of these issues, they can go to another city… I do not give a license to anyone foreign. 53 percent voted for me for this. We have to do what is necessary together.”
