As a result of the floods that occurred on March 15, 2023, it was learned that as of March 20, 2023, 20 people, 4 in Adıyaman and 16 in Urfa, lost their lives.
(03/181) Earthquakes in Antep and Maraş…
According to the information recorded by Boğaziçi University Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute, on February 6, 2023, an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 in Şehitkamil district of Antep which struck at 04:17 local time and an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.5 in Ekinözü district of Maraş which struck at 13:24 local time killed at least 50,096 people as of March 20, 2023.
It is learned from the news coverage that, the number of contractors who were arrested for their responsibility in the buildings collapsed in Antep and Maraş earthquakes is 298 as of March 20, 2023.

It is learned from the news coverage of March 20, 2023 that, equipment belonging to 3 Greek journalists were confiscated by people who were allegedly personnel of Religious Affairs and that the equipment were given back to the journalists in a broken condition.

The General Directorate of Security announced that prosecutions were initiated against 746 people and 185 people were detained, 48 people were arrested for their social media posts about the earthquakes in Antep and Maraş, as of March 20, 2023.

It is learned from the news coverage of March 20, 2023 that, 3 prisoners named Dursun Kaş, Celal Önkoyun ve Bülent Bağcı were transferred from Balıkesir Kepsut L Type Prison to İzmir F Type Prison No 2; that 2 prisoners named Cem Göcer and Cemal Yasar Bağcı were transferred from Balıkesir Kepsut L Type Prison to İzmir F Type Prison No 1; a prisoner named Ethem Zaric Bağcı were transferred from Balıkesir Kepsut L Type Prison to Kırıkkale F Type Prison without their consent or demand..

Police detained Ferdi Çiftiçi, a provincial executive of Green and Left Parti, and a child (B. N. Ö.) after the Newroz celebration held at Gbze district of Kocaeli on March 20, 2023. İt is learned that Ferdi Çiftçi was injured from his head due to the police’s physical violence he had subjected. 2 people are released on the same day.
35 people who were detained after the Newroz celebration in Mardin on March 19, 2023, are released on March 202,2023.

Yeni Yaşam newspaper employee Hamdullah Beyhan who was detained in Mersin on March 17, 2023 and was taken to Ankara is arrested by the court on March 20, 2023.

Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation against journalist Mehmet Ali Erdoğan on the grounds of the phrase “Kurdistan region” he used in the news he made on the earthquake. It is learned that the testimony of Mehmet Ali Erdoğan was taken at İstanbul Sultangazi District Police Headquarter on March 20, 2023.

It is learned from the news coverage of March 20, 2023 that, İbrahim Yıldız, a fugitive defendant at the case about the killing of 3 people from Şenyaşar family, was killed at a private hospital while undergoing an operation.

It is learned from the news coverage of March 20, 2023 that, the book “Those whose Dreams are Shattered” which was written by Yavuz Ekinci and published by Doğan Publishing in 2014 was banned to be published, distributed, and sold by Istanbul Penal Court of Peace No. 1 upon the request of the Presidency of Religious Affairs, on the grounds of ‘making propaganda of an illegal organisation.’

It is learned that Freedom of Speech Association’s website https://ifade.org.tr/engelliweb/ is banned to access on the grounds of violation of personal rights by Rize Penal Court of Peace on March 20, 2023.

14 people in İstanbul and 1 person in Edirne who is allegedly trying to cross the border with illegal ways were detained on March 21,2023.
