(03/201) Students of Ankara University Attacked…
A group coming outside the university attacked on 20 March 2017 the students of Ankara University with stones, sticks and sharp objects. 3 students were injured due to this incident. 2 persons were reportedly detained in connection with this attack.
(03/202) Torture and other Ill-Treatment in Prison…
A woman prisoner named S.A. who is held at Bayburt M Type Prison was sexually harassed by 7-9 prison guards at Sakarya L Type Prison where she was taken for her trial. A. made a complainant against the prison guards and the prison administration.
Prisoners at Silivri Prison No 2 were cuffed and then were beaten by the prison guards before the family visit.
According to the news appeared in press, a prisoner at Bandırma L Type Prison named Nail Demir is not given the medicine he must take.
Ergin Aktas is a disabled prisoner who is held at Menemen Prison. Aktas is not released even though he has a medical report which states that he cannot stay at prison. According to the news appeared in press, the letters which are sent to him are given to him after they are censored. Also although he had demanded them, the dailies Evrensel, Ozgurlukcu Demokrasi and the weekly Atilim are not given to him.
After Hacı İsa Sezek, an 80 years old prisoner, had beebn transferred from Siirt Prison to Bafra Prison against his will and demand, his he grandson was transferred to Ordu Prison.
A prisoner named Masallah Emre, who is held at Kandira Prison, has leukemia but according to the news appeared in press, his treatment is no being done. He has to sleep on floor because the prison is overcrowded.
According to the news appeared in press, in Izmir Woman Prison books, dailies, magazines are not taken into the prison. Only Holly Books (Quran, New and Old Testaments) are taken into prison and given to the prisoners.
(03/203) Hunger Strike in Prison…
5 prisoners were transferred from Urfa T Type Prison to Tekirdag F Type Prison No 2 against their will and demand. The names of the prisoners who were transferred are as follows: Şakir Bülbül, Ahmet Osman, Sekvan Uca, Deniz Özbeş ve Mehmet Erbey. According to the news appeared in press, the prisoners were transferred because they participated the 5 days hunger strike which started on 15 March 2017.
3 prisoners were transferred from Siverek T Type Woman Prison to Alanya Prison against their will and demand. The names of the prisoners who were transferred are as follows: Fatma Ağın, Nevin Gökçe ve Figen Arslan. According to the news appeared in press, the prisoners were transferred because they participated the 5 days hunger strike which started on 15 March 2017.
2 prisoners were transferred from Diyarbakır E Type Prison to Sakran Prison against their will and demand. The names of the prisoners who were transferred are as follows: Rabia Sönmez ve Gülistan Kara. According to the news appeared in press, the prisoners were transferred because they participated the 5 days hunger strike which started on 15 March 2017.
5 prisoners were transferred from MArdin E Type Prison to Kandıra F Type Prison against their will and demand. According to the news appeared in press, the prisoners were transferred because they participated the 5 days hunger strike which started on 15 March 2017.
(03/204) Newroz Celebrations…
Polis intervened Newroz Celebration at Diyarbakır Dicle University. 16 students were reportedly detained forcibly.
The vehicle which was used for Newroz announcement was confiscated by the police on 20 March 2017 on the allegation that the word Kurdistan is on the song which was played. The driver of the car was also detained by the police.
3 persons who were distributing leaflets about Newroz were detained on 20 March 2017 in Van’s Ercis district. Names of the detainees are as follows: Güler Avcı, Güler Yılmaz ve Dilan Doğan.
Kars Governorate banned the Newroz celebration for security reasons.
Mus Governorate did not give permission for the distribution of Newroz leaflets by the executives of HDP and DBP.
Diyarbakır Governorate banned the Newroz banners because of the logo of Democratic Society Congress (DTK). The banners were hanged again after the logos of DTK, HDP and DBP were covered.
The Governor of Tunceli, who is also the trustee appointed to Tunceli Municipality, banned the banners which were hanged on Seyid Rıza Square, where Newroz celebration will take place. “We will definitely win” was written on the banner. According to the news appeared in press, the electricity of Seyid Rıza Square was cut off upon the instruction of the Governor.
Mus Governorate did not give permission for the hanging of “We will definitely win” banner.

Women from CHP were intervened by the municipal police of Yunusemre Municipality while they were distributing “No” leaflets. During this incident, some women were reportedly beaten.
TKP members who were distributing “Not enough but No” leaflets at Istanbul University were intervened by another group.
“Ask me the Constitution” stand which was opened by the Assembly of Law Students at Uskudar was intervened on 20 March 2017 by another group.
Tusba District Election Board relocated on 20 March 2017 the ballot boxes in 17 quarters upon the requests of Sub-Governorate of Tusba and District Gendarme Command.

Mardin Governorate declared an open-ended curfew in Bahminin, Kaleli, Güzelsu, Yol, Dibek, Üçyol, Dağiçi, Şekrin ve Eskihisar villages of Nusaybin. The curfew started on 20 March 2017 at 7.oo.

The vehicle of Dilan Dirayet Tasdemir, HDP Agri MP and Voice Person of HDP Woman Assembly, was stopped by the police forces on 20 March 2017 at Dogubeyazıt district of Agri. Tasdemir was detained. She was released after she had given her statement to the court.

Hinrich Schultze, a German journalist who was covering the Newroz celebrations in Diyarbakır, was detained on 20 March 2017 in Diyarbakir. He was reportedly put into an armored police vehicle. He was released after his statement was taken.

Selman Keles, the reporter of DiHaber and Arif Aslan, an employee at Ipekyolu Municipality, was detained on 20 March 2017 in Van. They were taken to police headquarter. The technical equipment of Keles were confiscated by the police.

HDO Co-Chair for Milas district Kamuran Dogan was arrested on 20 March 2017 for ‘being a member of an illegal organization.’
9 persons, including HDP Co-Chairs for Bingol Zerrin Berdibek and Mahmut Bozan, were detained on 20 March 2017 in Bingol during house raids.
20 persons were detained on 20 March 2017in Nazilli district of Aydin in connection with a police operation against university students.
40 persons, including DBP Co-Chair for Caldiran Mehmet Nuri Urgen, were detained on 20 March 2017 in Caldiran district of Van during house raids.

8 persons were detained on 20 March 2017 in an Eskisehir centered police operation during house raids in Eskisehir, Sakarya, Izmir, Istanbul, Ankara and Adana.
(03/212) Woman Politician on Trial…
Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 25 continued on 20 March 2017 hearing the case against Sara Aktas, Member of Coordination Board of Free Women Congress (Kongreya Jinên Azad (KJA)). The indictment wants the defendant to be sentenced for ‘founding and managing an illegal organization.’ and ‘making propaganda of an illegal organization.’ After the defenses, the court released Aktas to be tried without a remand and adjourned the hearing.
(03/213) Postponed Akbank Strike…
The strike at Akbank was postponed for 60 days by a Decree of the Cabinet which was published in the Official Gazette on 20 March 2017.
