(07/131) Operations and Attacks…

It is learned from the news coverage of July 20, 2022, that at least 9 civilians, including children, were killed and 23 people were injured as a result of the artillery fire allegedly carried out by the Turkish Armed Forces against the rural area of ​​Zaho city within the borders of the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs made a declaration and stated the following: “Turkey is against all kinds of attacks targeting civilians. Turkey carries out its fight against terrorism in accordance with international law, with the utmost sensitivity to the protection of civilians, civil infrastructure, historical and cultural assets and nature (…) It is appreciated that such attacks targeting innocent people and which are considered to be originated from a terrorist organization, target our country’s just and determined stance in the fight against terrorism. Turkey is ready to take every step to reveal the truth”.

It is learned from the news coverage of July 20, 2022, that the prisoners, who were reported to have been poisoned by the food they ate in Balıkesir Burhaniye T Type Prison, were not taken to the hospital.

(07/133) Racist Attack on Cemetery in Trabzon…

It is learned from the news coverage of July 21, 2022, that Nazi symbols were drawn on the graves of the family of Ekrem İmamoğlu, the Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, in Akçaabat district of Trabzon. It is reported that 2 children were detained and released after statement procedures.

(07/134) Police Interventions to Suruç Massacre Commemorations in Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir…

The police intervened the press declaration held in Kadıköy district of Istanbul on July 20, 2022; to commemorate 33 people who have been killed in a bombing attack in Suruç district of Urfa on July 20, 2015; and detained 106 people by using physical violence. 90 of the detainees are released after statement procedures on the same day. 14 people are released on judicial control conditions and 2 people (Berfin Polat and Muhammed Rojhat Demirdöken) are released on house confinement for 1 month.

The police intervened the press declaration held in Çankaya district of Ankara on July 20, 2022 and detained 45 people by using physical violence. Detained people are released after statement procedures.

The police intervened the press declaration in Konak district of Izmir on July 20, 2022 and detained 19 people by using physical violence. Detained people are released after statement procedures.

The police intervened the press declaration of Şişli Municipality workers in front of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) in Ankara on July 20, 2022 and forced people away from the building by using physical violence.

The police intervened the press declaration which were made within the scope of “I Want My Job Back Protest” in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on July 20, 2022 and forced people away from the monument by using physical violence.

(07/137) Police Intervention to a Protest in Istanbul…

The police intervened the justice watch in front of the Çağlayan Courthouse in Istanbul on July 21, 2022, regarding the ill prisoners, and detained 8 people by using physical violence. It is learned that the police prevented journalists from recording the intervention. Detained people are released after statement procedures on the same day. The names of detained people learned so far are: Zeynep Calihan, Kumri Akgül, Cemile Çiftçi, Duran Turğay, Gülten Sümbül, Rozerin Değirmenci.

(07/138) Musicians Banned from Tunceli…

The concerts of Grup Yorum and Grup İsyan Ateşi bands, which were to be held within the 20th Nature and Culture Festival in Tunceli have been banned by the governorate’s office, and the members of two music bands have been banned from entering the city by the governorate’s office until July 26, 2022. Following the governorate’s ban, the vehicle of the musicians who are members of the Group İsyan Ateşi has been stopped on the Erzincan-Tunceli highway and the gendarmerie has prevented them from entering the city. The members of Grup Yorum band was also stopped on Erzincan-Tunceli highway on July 21, 2022 and they were also prevented from entering the city.

(07/139) Covid-19 Pandemic…

The Ministry of Health declared on July 20, 2022 that 96 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and the number of Covid-19 cases is 226,532 between July 11 and 17, 2022.

The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 99,184 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 15,524,071 as of July 17, 2022.
