It is learned from the news coverage of January 20, 2022 that, Hüseyin Aydın, a prisoner in Edirne F Type Prison, was threatened by the correction officers during roll-calls. It is also stated in the news reports that cultural and social rights of the prisoners are prevented.
It is learned from the news coverage of January 20, 2022 that, prisoners were not given hot water regularly in Yozgat T Type Prison.

It is learned from the news coverage of January 20, 2022 that, Engin Mutlu, a prisoner in Adana Kürkçüler F Type Prison, is on indefinite hunger strike since January 13, 2022 to demand an end to right violations.

The trial of the case against Naşide Toprak, HDP co-mayor of Silvan district of Diyarbakır who was suspended and replaced by a trustee, is held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 8 on January 20, 2022.
After defence hearings the court adjourned the trial to May 17, 2022.
Naşide Toprak was suspended by the Ministry of Interior on March 23, 2020 and the sub-governor was appointed as a trustee.

The trial of the case against Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Diyarbakır provincial co-chairs Zeyyat Ceylan and Hülya Alökmen Uyanık, is held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 5 on January 20, 2022.
The indictment demands sentence for Zeyyat Ceylan and Hülya Alökmen Uyanık on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ and ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’.
The court adjourned the trial to April 21, 2022.
Hülya Alökmen Uyanık and Zeyyat Ceylan were detained after the police raid to HDP’s Diyarbakır office on October 22, 2020; and they were arrested by the court on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ on October 30, 2020. They were released by the court after the first trial on March 23, 2021.

The final trial of the case against CHP group deputy and Sakarya MP Engin Özkoç, for ‘insulting the President’ is held at Ankara Penal Court of First Instance No 35 on January 20, 2022. The court ruled that Engin Özkoç should pay a compensation of 50,000 Turkish liras to the President.

The trial of the case against Abdullah Kaya, a reporter of Dicle News Agency which was closed down by a state of emergency decree, is held at Ağrı Heavy Penal Court No 2 on January 20, 2022.
The indictment demands sentence for Abdullah Kaya on the charges of ‘knowingly and willingly aiding an illegal organisation’ and ‘making successive propaganda for an illegal organisation’.
The court adjourned the trial to April 19, 2022.

The first trial of the case against Gülsüm Elvan and Sami Elvan, mother and father of Berkin Elvan who has lost his life after being shot by the police using gas canister during Gezi Park protests, is held at Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No 43 on January 20, 2022.
The indictment demands sentence for 2 people on the charge of ‘insulting the President’.
Gülsüm Elvan and Sami Elvan did not attend the trial on excuse. The court adjourned the trail to April 21, 2022.

It is learned from the news coverage of January 20, 2022 that, the Constitutional Court granted 30 days to HDP for preparing its defence to the legal opinion of the Chief Public Prosecutor of the Court of Cassation with regard to the closure case.

The Ministry of Health declared that 166 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and the daily number of Covid-19 cases is 71,843 as of January 20, 2022.
The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 85,419 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 10,736,215 as of January 20, 2022.
It is learned from the news coverage of January 20, 2022 that, Selçuk Kozağaçlı, chair of the Progressive Lawyers’ Association (ÇHD) in Istanbul Silivri Closed Prison tested positive for Covid-19.
