It is learned from the news coverage of September 20, 2024, that anonymous person(s) wrote ‘Yeşil’ and ‘Mahmut Yıldırım is here’ on the wall of a person who hanged an Amedspor flag on the balcony of his house in Van, and on the wall opposite the house, in reference to Mahmut Yıldırım, a JITEM member whose name is identified with extrajudicial killings.

It is learned from the press statement of Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Law and Human Rights Commission and Association of Lawyers for Freedom (ÖHD) on rights violations in Karabük T Type Prison on September 19, 2024, that the release of 17 prisoners who completed their sentence in Karabük T Type Prison since 2021, was postponed by a decision of Prison Administration and Observation Board (İGK).
Names of prisoners whose release was postponed by the decision of the İGK: Şirin Taşdemir, Hakkı Aygün, Halil Temel, Kadri Alkoç, Ahmet Bayna, Ejder Doğan, Ali Koç, Mehmet Sarıaltun, Abdullah Ok, Aydın Kudat, Abdurrahman Güner, Mustafa Karakaya, Hasan Öğüt, Adem Oktay, Ali Haydar Elyakut, Metin Çakır, Muhittin Pirinçioğlu.

It is learned that the appeal made on September 13, 2024, to the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office in Bursa by PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan’s family and tutelary along with the families and tutelary of Ömer Hayri Konar, Hamili Yıldırım and Veysi Aktaş in İmralı Prison was not responded.

The trial of the case against journalists Deniz Nazlım, Sibel Yükler, and Yıldız Tar, who were detained under torture and ill-treatment while protesting the arrest of their colleagues at Ulus Square in the Altındağ district of Ankara on 5 July 2022, on the charge of ‘violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations No 2911’, was held at Ankara Penal Court of First Instance No 71 on 19 September 2024. The court adjourned the trial to 7 January 2025.

The trial of the case against Görkem Kınacı, former Managing Editor, and Kürşat Yılmaz, Concession Owner of Evrensel Newspaper, for 2 news reports published in the newspaper in 2022, continued on 19 September 2024 at Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No 2. The indictment demands a sentence for journalists on the charges of ‘slander’ and ‘insult’. The court adjourned the hearing to 21 January 2025.

The retrial of the case against documentary filmmaker Sibel Tekin, on the grounds of ‘making propaganda for an illegal organization’ for following a protest in Ankara in 2015, continued on September 19, 2024, at Ankara Heavy Penal Court No 2, after Ankara Regional Court of Appeals Penal Department No 6 reversed the 10-month prison sentence and deferred the announcement of the verdict. The court adjourned the trial to 7 November 2024.

It is learned from the news coverage of 20 September 2024 that, at the meeting of the Suruç Municipality Council held on 6 August 2024, the decision to name a park after Kurdish love epic ‘Mem û Zîn’ and another park after poet Sait Kendirci was rejected by the Suruç District Governorate without any reason.
