(11/204) Police Intervention Against “I Want My Job Back” Protest in Ankara…

The police intervened the press declaration of public labourers who had been dismissed by a state of emergency decree and have been struggling 1106 days to regain their jobs, intended to be held in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on November 19, 2019 at 13.30, and at 18.00.

It was reported that during police intervention against the press declaration which was planned to be held at 13.30 on November 19, 2019, 1 person (Mehmet Dersulu) and at 18.00 2 people (Mehmet Dersulu and Mahmut Konuk) were detained.

Thus in total 3 people were detained due to press declaration intended to be held in Yüksel Street on November 19, 2019. It is learned detained people were released on the same days they were detained.

(11/205) Students Were Subjected to Violence of Private Security Guards in Ankara…

On November 19, 2019, private security guards used clubs to intervene the students who want to attend “Symposium on Turkey’s Modernization Process and Ankara University Faculty of Political Sciences” at Ankara University.

It is learned that university students who were prevented from attending the symposium were then assaulted by a group of nationalists known as Grey wolves and several students and academicians were injured.

(11/206) Police Intervention to a Protest in Istanbul…

The police intervened the press declaration of Revolutionary Party members in Kadıköy district of Istanbul on November 19, 2019, to protest male violence which lastly killed Güleda Cankel in Isparta city. The police detained 2 people (Başak Yeşilot and Cansu Kalender).

(11/207) Detained District Council Members in Ağrı…

On November 19, 2019, 3 people including district council member Ceren Barış are detained in house raids in Ağrı. The names of detained people are: Ceren Barış, former provincial co-chair of People’s Democratic Party (HDP) and HDP member Hamit Taşdemir.

(11/208) Arrested HDP Executive in Antalya…

HDP provincial executive Hacı Tekmenuray who was detained in Antalya on November 12, 2019 is arrested by the court on November 19, 2019.

(11/209) HDP MP on Trial…

The appeal of HDP Antep MP Mahmut Toğrul to 2 years and 6 months of sentence given by Antep Heavy Penal Court on the charge of ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’, is concluded by Penal Department No 18 of Antep Regional Court on November 19, 2019. The court rejected the appeal on the grounds that “sentence given is not unlawful with respect to procedure and principle, there is no lack of evidence and the consideration of the court is sufficient with regard to proving the allegation”. It is learned that Mahmut Toğrul will appeal to Supreme Court.

(11/210) Detentions and Arrests in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…

On November 19, 2019, 101 people including 3 colonels, 5 majors and 5 lieutenants are detained in operations covering 45 cities through an Izmir based investigation on Turkish Armed Forces personnel; 11 people are detained in operations covering 5 cities through an Ankara based investigation on Turkish Air Force personnel and 56 people are detained in operations covering 19 cities through an Ankara based investigation.

(11/211) Trials in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…

The final trial of the case against former Supreme Court judge Muharrem Karayol is held at Penal Department No 9 of Supreme Court on November 19, 2019. The court sentenced the defendant to 14 years and 3 months for ‘being an illegal organisation member’.

The final trial of the case against former major Şükrü Seymen is held at Muğla Heavy Penal Court No 2 on November 19, 2019. The court sentenced the defendant to heavy life imprisonment for four times on the charges of ‘violating the Constitution’, ‘assassination attempt to President’, ‘intentional killing’. The court sentenced the defendant to 3 years on the charge of ‘insulting the President’, to 6 years on the charge of ‘intentional injury’, to 18 years on the charge of ‘violation of the immunity of residence’ and to 18 years on the charge of ‘deprivation of liberty’.

(11/212) Trustees Appointed to District Council…

It is learned that 6 public officials are appointed as trustees to Bağlar district council of Diyarbakır on November 19, 2019. 6 members of Bağlar district council (Nurettin Bakan, Halime Bayram, Hüsnü Aslan, Mehmet Akdoğan, Panayır Çelik and Naşide Buluttekin Can) who were elected as HDP candidates, were suspended by Ministry of Interior on October 21, 2019.

(11/213) Ban of Events in Urfa…

Urfa Governorate made a declaration on November 19, 2019 and announced that, all open events such as demonstrations, press declarations, meetings, sit-ins, opening stands and tents, festivals, concerts, delivering leaflets and so on are banned for 30 days as of November 19, 2019. This is the third time of banning all events for 30 days in Urfa since August 19, 2019.
