(07/121) Racist Attack in Denizli…

It is learned that a Kurdish family in Pamukkale district of Denizli was subjected to racist attack of persons saying “What do Kurds do in this neighbourhood? We will kill you”.

It is reported that the police detained 3 attackers and 3 members of the attacked family. It is also stated in the news reports that the police did not record the expression “racist attack” in the minutes. Detained people are released after statement procedures.

(07/122) Prisoners Tested Positive for Covid-19…

It is learned from the news coverage of July 19, 2022 that, 7 prisoners in Diyarbakir Women’s Prison tested positive for Covid-19.

(07/123) Police Intervention Against “I Want My Job Back” Protest in Ankara…

The police intervened the press declaration which were made within the scope of “I Want My Job Back Protest” in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on July 19, 2022 and forced people away from the monument by using physical violence.

(07/124) The Council of State Case on Istanbul Convention…

The decision of the case filed in the 10th Chamber of the Council of State for the annulment of the “Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence”, known as the Istanbul Convention, with the Presidential Decision dated 20 March 2021, is announced on 19 July 2022. The 10th Penal Chamber of the Council of State refused to reverse the withdrawal with a majority of votes on the grounds that “There is no unlawfulness in the Presidential Decision, which is the subject of the case, which was established based on the power of representation given by the Constitution and the authority given in the Presidential Decree No. 9”.

(07/125) Lawyers and Others on Trial in Istanbul…

The trial of the case against 50 people including 46 lawyers on the charges of “being an illegal organisation member” and “establishing and leading an illegal organisation” is held at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No. 19 on July 19, 2022. The court adjourned the trial to January 24, 2023.

(07/126) October 10 – Ankara Massacre Case…

The trial of the case against Erman Ekici and 16 fugitive defendants, for October 10 – Ankara Massacre, is held at Ankara Heavy Penal Court No 4 on July 19, 2022.

Erman Ekici, the only arrested defendant of the case joined the trial via sound and vision system. Kasım Güler, who is arrested over another case is heard as a witness at the trial as well as Gökhan Karademir. The court decided to bring Kasım Güler to the next trial, rejected the requests for Ahmet Davutoğlu, the Prime Minister back then and Ümit Özdağ to be heard as witnesses. The court decided to continue detention of Erman Ekici and adjourned the trial to October 6, 2022.

19 defendants have been sentenced to jail sentences on August 3, 2018, at the final trial of the case on October 10 – Ankara Massacre and the case against 16 fugitives was separated.

It is learned that Mardin Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation against Jinnews reporter Öznur Değer on the grounds of her social media posts and that Öznur Değer made her official statement to Kızıltepe District Security Directorate on July 20, 2022.

(07/128) Musicians Banned from Tunceli…

It is learned from the news coverage of July 20, 2022, that the members of Grup Yorum and Grup İsyan Ateşi bands, whose concerts within the 20th Nature and Culture Festival in Tunceli have been banned by the governorate’s office, are banned from entering the city by the governorate’s office until July 26, 2022. It is reported that the vehicle of the musicians who are members of the Group İsyan Ateşi was stopped on the Erzincan-Tunceli highway and the gendarmerie prevented them from entering the city.

(07/129) Ban of Access to Web Contents…

It is learned that the website of Etkin News Agency https://www.etha43.com is banned to access on the grounds of “protecting national security and public order” by Diyarbakır Penal Court of Peace No. 5 on July 18, 2022.

(07/130) Detentions and Arrests in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…

It is learned that 2 people are detained in Adana.
