The police intervened the march in Muğla on March 19, 2025 to protest detention of Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and detained 5 people including CHP Muğla Provincial Youth Branch Chair Nazım Şardoğan. The indictment demands sentence for the journalist on the charges of ‘being an illegal organization member’ and ‘making propaganda for an illegal organization’. The court adjourned the trial to June 18, 2025.
In the case against journalist Perihan Kaya at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 10, the court sentenced her to 1 year and 3 months on the charge of ‘making propaganda for an illegal organization’ and acquitted her on the charge of ‘being an illegal organization member’. The verdict was overturned by the Diyarbakır Regional Court of Appeals on the grounds that ‘the sentence was incomplete’.
