It is learned from the news coverage of August 21, 2022 that, 3 HPG militants died in a clash in Avaşin area of the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government in June 2022.
(08/193) Traffic Accident in Antep…
On August 20, 2022, a passenger bus had crashed into an ambulance, a firefighting truck and a vehicle carrying journalists at the site of a previous crash on the Antep-Nizip highway; and killed 16 people including 3 firefighters, 2 health workers, and 2 journalists (Muhammed Abdulkadir Esen and Umut Yakup Tanrıöver), while 31 people were injured. The Ministry of Justice announced that an investigation was launched into the accident, and it was learned that the bus driver was arrested by the court.
(08/194) Traffic Accident in Mardin…
On August 20, 2022, a truck hurtled into pedestrians including health workers, firefighters and gendarmerie personnel who gathered for emergency respond for a previous truck accident in Derik district of Mardin; and killed 21 people while 26 people were injured. The Ministry of Justice announced that an investigation was launched into the accident, and it was learned that two truck drivers were arrested by the court.

It is learned that 4 people (Hatice Deniz Aktaş, Ebru Yiğit, Mert Unay and Nurcan Gülbudak) including the Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) provincial chair and the Socialist Women’s Assemblies central executive board member who were detained in Sultangazi district of Istanbul on August 17, 2022; were subjected to physical violence of the police officers taking them to Bayrampaşa Public Hospital for medical examination on August 21, 2022.

It is learned from the news coverage of August 21, 2022 that, a person named Adem Yiğit was subjected to torture and ill-treatment of the soldiers during house raids in Boşan village of Başkale district of Van.

It is learned from the news coverage of August 19, 2022 that, 13 prisoners in Izmir Şakran T Type Prison No. 3 were transferred to other prisons. The names of prisoners are: Özgür Güçlü, İhsan Balkaş, Mehmet Halis Vural, Abdurrahman Yıldırım, Faik Kımış, Orhan Sakçı, Mehmet Nimet Yılmaz, Fettah Yıldırım, İdris Çalışkan, Murat Duruk, Mizbah Kaya, Murat Aydın and Mehmet Okur. The prisons that they were transferred to are unknown.
It is learned from the news coverage of August 21, 2022 that, 4 prisoners in Kilis L Type Prison were threatened by the correction officers saying “I will be such a trouble to you that nobody will know”, as they reject to stand up during roll-calls.

It is learned from the news coverage of August 19, 2022 that, the prisoners in Maraş Türkoğlu L Type Prison No. 1 were forced to be in handcuffs during medical examination and those who reject it were not referred to hospitals and were not treated.

The police prevented the Justice Watch protest for ill prisoners, which was to be held in Kartal district of Istanbul on August 20, 2022.

The gendarmerie intervened into the protest against the Geothermal Power Plant, which is intended to be built on agricultural lands in the Mezeköy village of Köşk district of Aydın, on 22 August 2022, and detained 5 people with torture and ill-treatment.
(08/201) Detained ESP Executive and Other People in Istanbul…
It is learned that 4 people (Hatice Deniz Aktaş, Ebru Yiğit, Mert Unay and Nurcan Gülbudak) including ESP provincial chair and the Socialist Women’s Assemblies central executive board member who were detained in Sultangazi district of Istanbul on August 17, 2022; are arrested by the court on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ on August 21, 2022.
