(09/007) Torture and Ill-Treatment in Prison…

It is learned from the news coverage of September 1, 2021 that, Ayşe Gökkan, spokesperson of the Free Women’s Movement (TJA) who is in Diyarbakır Women’s Prison, was not allowed, on the grounds of security reasons, to attend her father’s funeral who lost his life on August 31, 2021.

(09/008) Meeting Request with Abdullah Öcalan Not Responded…

It is learned that the appeal made on September 1, 2021 to chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan’s lawyers in order to visit their client was not responded.

(09/009) Preventions and Interventions Against 1 September International Day of Peace Events…

The police prevented the press declaration of Labour and Democracy Forces in front of Ankara Railroad Terminal on September 1, 2020 as a part of International Day of Peace events. It is learned that the press declaration was then held outside of The Confederation of Public Employees’ Trade Unions headquarters.

(09/010) Investigation Against Journalist…

It is learned that Mardin Kızıltepe Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation against Jinnews reporter Öznur Değer, on the charge of ‘provoking hatred and hostility among public’ by the news reports on the racist attack in Konya which killed 7 members of Dedeoğulları family. It is learned that Öznur Değer made her official statement through the investigation on September 1, 2021.

(09/011) Ban of Access to Web Contents…

It is learned that the news reports on the “Zindaşti case”, the organized crime group case against 20 people including public officials, published on https://www.cumhuriyet.com.tr/, https://www.birgun.net/ and https://www.diken.com.tr websites are banned to access on the grounds of violation of personal rights by Ankara West Penal Court of Peace on September 1, 2021.

(09/012) Detentions and Arrests in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…

On September 1, 2021, 32 people are detained in operations covering 12 cities through an Istanbul based investigation and 17 people are detained in house raids in Izmir.

(09/013) Covid-19 Pandemic…

The Ministry of Health declared that 290 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and the daily number of Covid-19 cases is 23,976 as of September 1, 2021.

The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 57,700 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 6,412,307 as of September 1, 2021.
