The police used physical violence to detain 4 members of the Socialist Youth Associations’ Federation (SGDF) following the press declaration in front of the District Directorate of National Education in Kadıköy district of Istanbul on November 1, 2022 to protest the protocol made between the Ministry of National Education and some grocery chains regarding the employment of students.

It is learned that union members held a sit-in protest. It is learned that 2 musicians who played drums and zurna during the protest were detained by the police and released on the same day.

4 of 15 people (Rıdvan Türel, Nurullah Kurami, Recep Turan and Gökhan Erkul) who were detained in house raids in Cizre district of Şırnak on October 29, 2022 are released by the court on November 1, 2022. 11 people who were detained through the same investigation were released on judicial control conditions on October 31, 2022.

The trial of the case against HDP Istanbul MP Hüda Kaya is held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No. 4 on November 1, 2022. The indictment demands sentence for Hüda Kaya on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’, on the grounds of her social media posts, protests and events she participated in. The court rejected to request for ending the proceeding on the grounds of parliamentary impunity and adjourned the trial to January 12, 2023.

Şırnak Governorate’s Office made a statement on November 1, 2022 and announced that all events such as press declarations, sit-in protests, meetings, opening stands and tents, collecting petitions, festivals, concerts, theatre plays, any audio-visual events using vehicles, flying lanterns and balloons, aerial activities using drones and paramotors, distributing leaflets, hanging banners and so on are banned for 5 days as of November 5, 2022.
