(02/013) Torture and Ill-Treatment in Custody in Mersin…
According to the news appeared in the press on 1 February and 2 February 2017, 10 persons, who were detained on 18 January 2017 and among whom there are members of Pir Sultan Abdal Culture Centre and Mersin Association of Rights, for being a member of an illegal organisation are under torture in Mersin police head quarter. Mehdi Zana, Rıza Oğuz and Güney Dağ, lawyers of the detainees, told the press that the detainees are physically and psychologically tortured by the police. They also added that the detainees are on hunger strike from the first day of detention on but the police do not give them any water, salt and sugar.
(02/014) Lawyers Beaten
According to the news appeared in the press on 1 February 2017, lawyers Fatma Demirer and Nergiz Tuba Aslan went to see their clients who were in Buca Kırıklar F Type Prison. When the prison administration did not let the lawyers see their clients, a quarrel broke out, lawyers were beaten by the prison guards and threatened by the Police Special Forces who were called in by the Prison Administration .

Gülbahar Koçak and Eda Moroğlu, lawyers from Sivas Bar Association, were detained and kept under custody for 3 days. According to the news appeared in the press on 1 February 2017, they were detained, their cars, offices and houses were searched for showing a note to their clients. According to statement of Koçak, during these searches, items not only belonging to them but also belongings of their family members and relatives had been confiscated without preparing proper official reports. These included professionally confidential documents and materials. Koçak also added that even though she was 29 week pregnant she was bodily searched in a derogatory manner.
(02/016) Persons Forced By Police to Give False Testimonies…
According to the news appeared in the press on 1 February 2017, police officers from Van Anti-Terror Branch forced the subscribers of Rojeva Medya and Özgürlükçü Demokrasi to give false testimonies against Hasan Duman, who was detained as the distributor of these dailies on 21 January 2017. Police forced the subscribers to testify that Hasan Duman had made them subscribe by force.

According to the news appeared in the press on 1 February 2017, Farhang Mirzaiye who is a prisoner transferred to Van T Type Prison was beaten by the guards of the prison when he refused the strip search on 25 January 2017.
(02/018) Co-Mayor of Gökçebağ Detained…
The co-mayor of Gökçebağ, a sub district of Siirt province, Serhat Çiçek was detained on 1 February 2017. Çiçek was elected from Peoples’ Democratic Party (DBP).

HDP Co-chair for Van province Sevinç Şeker, together with her brother, was detained on 1 February in a house raid.
5 teachers are detained on 1 February 2016 at Izmir for participating to a strike which was called by trade unions and took place on 29 December 2015.
5 persons were detained on 1 February 2017 in Cizre during house raids. The names of the detainees are as follows: Emin Heycan, İsmail Guleş, Salih Dayan, Sultan Aykut ve Abdülkerim Pozan.
3 persons were detained on 1 February of 2017 in Tunceli, Van and Maraş and transferred to Tunceli. The detainees are members of ESP and Socialist Women Assemblies (SKM) and their names are as follows: Gamze Daş, Elif Çelik and Özgür Kiraz.
(02/020) Trial of HDP Co-chair Yüksekdağ
Urfa Heavy Penal Court No 5 continued on 1 February 2017 the case against HDP Co chair Figen Yüksekdağ. Yüksekdağ participated the hearing via Information System for Sound and Vision (SEGBİS) from Kandıra F Type Prison. The indictment wants the defendant to be sentenced for ‘being member of an illegal organisation’ and ‘making propaganda of an illegal organisation.’ After the defense, court adjourned the hearing to 16 March 2017.

Çorum Penal Court of First Instance No 4 started on 1 February 2017 the case against HDP Şırnak MP Ferhat Encü. Encü participated the hearing via SEGBİS from Kandıra F Type Prison. The indictment wants the defendant to be sentenced for “inciting people hatred and enmity.” After defense the court adjourned the hearing.

Urfa Heavy Penal Court No 5 continued on 1 February 2017 the case against HDP Urfa MP İbrahim Ayhan. Ayhan did not participate the hearing. The indictment wants the defendant to be sentenced for ’making propaganda of an illegal organisation..’ The court issued an arrest warrant for Ayhan.

Urfa Heavy Penal Court No 5 continued on 1 February 2017 the case against HDP Urfa MP Dilek Ocalan. Ocalan did not participate the hearing. The indictment wants the defendant to be sentenced for ‘making propaganda of an illegal organisation.’ The court issued an arrest warrant for Ocalan.
(02/024) 69 Persons on Trial in Izmir…
İzmir Penal Court of First Instance No 25 continued on 1 February 2017 the case against 69 persons. The indictment wants the defendants to be sentenced for ’insulting the State President’ and ’violating Law on Meetings and Demonstrations.’ These 69 persons, including lawyers and human rights advocates, were battered and detained by police in Izmir during protesting the 10 October Ankara bombing.

Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 8 started on 1 February 2017 the case against Bedirhan Çetinkaya, the co-chair of Diyarbakır branch of Trade Union of Office Workers (BES) for ‘being a member of an illegal organisation’ and ‘making propaganda of an illegal organisation.’ After his defense, court released him to be tried without remand and adjourned the hearing to June 2017.
(02/026) Person on Trial for Insulting the Sate President…
Bursa Penal Court of First Instance No 19 continued on 1 February 2017 the case against Fikret Yorgun, a cheerleader of Bursa football club, for insulting the state president on social media. After the last defense, court sentenced him 1 year and 11 months imprisonment and suspended the pronouncement of the judgment.
(02/027) Ban of Activities in Antep…
Governorate of Antep banned all meetings, demonstrations, public statements, press statements, sit in actions, stands and distribution of leaflets, and activities from 1 February 2017 to 28 February 2017.
