(12/010) Male Violence Monitoring Report……

According to Bianet’s “Male Violence Register,”, at least 25 women and 6 children were killed by men across Turkey in November 2025. The report also stated that men inflicted violence on at least 33 women, harassed 9 women, abused 23 children and forced 20 women to sex work.

(12/011) Prisoners whose Release was Adjourned by the Prison Administration and Observation Board Decision…

It is learned from the news coverage of December 2, 2025 that, in Istanbul Bakırköy Women’s Prison, the water flowing out of the taps in the wards where prisoners are kept is dirty.

It is learned from the news coverage of December 2, 2025 that, Dilaver Karasu, who was taken from Erzurum High Security Prison No 1 to Bitlis Ahlat T Type Prison to attend the trial of the case he is on trial for, was not taken back to Erzurum prison despite of his demand and was kept in Ahlat prison until the next trial. It is stated in the news reports that Dilaver Karasu was subjected to strip search at the entrance of the prison, a Kurdish fax he wrote was not sent and his petitions were not processed.

(12/012) Journalist on Trial in Istanbul…

The trial of the case against journalist Furkan Karabay on the grounds of his social media posts started on December 2, 2025 at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No. 25. The indictment demands sentence for Furkan Karabay on the charges of ‘insulting the President’, ‘targeting people who took part in the fight against terrorism’ and ‘insulting a public officer for his duty’.

The court rejected Furkan Karabay’s demand to read the indictment. It is also learned that the court interrupted Furkan Karabay during his defense. The court accepted the participation requests of the President and Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor. The court sentenced Furkan Karabay to 1 year and 9 months for ‘insulting the President’, 1 year and 3 months for ‘targeting people who took part in the fight against terrorism’ and 1 year and 3 months for ‘insulting a public officer for his duty’, for a total of 4 years and 3 months. The court also ruled for the release of Furkan Karabay.

Furkan Karabay was arrested on May 15, 2025.

(12/013) Journalist on Trial in Istanbul…

The trial of the lawsuit filed against journalist Tuğçe Yılmaz due to the news article titled “Armenian youth from Turkey tell: 109 years of mourning” started to be held at Istanbul 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance on December 2, 2025. The indictment demands sentence for Tuğçe Yılmaz on the charge of ‘denigrating the Turkish nation, the Republic of Turkey, the institutions and organs of the state’. The court adjourned the trial to April 21, 2026.

(12/014) LGBTI+ Activist on Trial in Istanbul…

The first trial of the case against LGBTI+ activist İris Mozalar, who was detained during the police intervention against the 23rd Feminist Night March in Beyoğlu district of Istanbul on March 8, 2025, started on December 2, 2025 at Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No 7. The indictment demands sentence for İris Mozalar on the charge of ‘violating Law No. 2911 on Meetings and Demonstrations’. It is learned that the court did not allow the press and other audience to enter the courtroom although there were empty seats; and expelled 1 person from the courtroom for taking notes. The court adjourned the trial to June 9, 2026.

Of 112 people detained during the police intervention against the 23rd Feminist Night March, only Iris Mozalar was put on trial.

(12/015) Lawyer on Trial in Istanbul…

The trial of the case against lawyer Behiç Aşçı continued on December 2, 2025 at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 14. The indictment demands sentence for Behiç Aşçı on the charge of ‘being an illegal organization member’. The court adjourned the trial to January 29, 2026.

(12/016) Person on Trial in Siirt…

On December 2, 2025, it is learned from the news coverage of December 2, 2025 that, the sentence of 4 years and 2 months given to Cemil Taşkesen on the grounds of his social media posts on the charge of ‘threatening the President’ in the case on Siirt Heavy Penal Court No 2, for his social media posts, is approved by Criminal Chamber No 9 of Diyarbakır Regional Court of Appeals.
