(08/017) Operations and Attacks…
It is learned from the news coverage of August 1, 2022 that, 1 militant died in a clash between the Turkish Armed Forces units and HPG militants in Zap area on July 26, 2022; and 2 militants died in clashes in Qandil area of the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government in May 2022.
It is learned that 1 village guard (Kerem Mehmetoğlu) died and 2 village guards were injured in the explosion during passage of a military vehicle in the rural areas of Uludere district of Şırnak on August 2, 2022.
(08/018) Torture and Ill-Treatment in Prison…
It is learned from the news coverage of August 1, 2022 that, the air conditioners and fans in the wards of Urfa T Type Prison No. 1 were confiscated by the prison administration; political prisoners cannot use video call rights; the prisoners were not given the newspapers Evrensel and Yeni Yaşam; the meals given to prisoners were inadequate and of poor quality; and personal belongings of the prisoners were seized during the ward searches.

It is learned from the news coverage of August 1, 2022 that, 4 ill prisoners (Emin Güler, Celal Ercan, Bazo Yılmaz, Fevzi Aslan) kept in Urfa T Type Prison No. 1 were not receiving treatment.

The police intervened the press declaration of Şişli Municipality workers in front of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) in Ankara on August 1, 2022 and forced people away from the building by using physical violence.
(08/021) Police Intervention to a Protest in Istanbul…
The police intervened the people having a protest against demolition of a park and preventing the construction equipment from entering in the park in Çekmeköy district of Istanbul on August 2, 2022, and detained 9 people, including CHP executives.
It is learned that during the intervention, the police prevented BirGün reporter İsmail Arı from recording and threatened to detain him.
(08/022) Attacks on Cemevis and Alevi Associations in Ankara…
On July 30, 2022, attacks have been carried out against Şah-ı Merdan Cemevi (Alevi House of Worship), Turkmen Alevi Bektashi Association, Tuzluçayır Democratic Alevi Association, Ana Fatma Cemevi, Gökçebel Village Association, and Batıkent Serçeşme Cemevi. Ankara Provincial Security Directorate declared that 2 people (one in Izmir and one in a car stopped on Eskişehir-Ankara roadway) are detained in relation to the attacks, on August 1, 2022. The number of people detained in connection with the attacks is 3.
(08/023) Detained HDP Members in Istanbul…
5 of 12 members of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) including Party Assembly member Livan Orman and Beşiktaş district co-chair Orhan Özöner who have been detained through an Istanbul based investigation on July 29, 2022 and following days, are arrested by the court on August 1, 2022. 7 people are released.
Arrested people are: Ahmet Beyazıt, İsmail Toptamur, Livan Orman, Mehmet Salih Karatay, Mehmet Salih Dikmen.
(08/024) Detained Newspaper Distributor in Tunceli…
Atılım newspaper’s distributor Rıza Çimen was detained on August 1, 2022 while distributing newspapers in Ovacık district of Tunceli. It is learned that Rıza Çimen was released on the same day, and twelve copies of the newspaper he had were confiscated by the police.

It is learned that 6 people are detained in house raids in Ankara on August 2, 2022.
