(06/012) Curfew in Şırnak…

The operations and blockade in Şırnak were announced to be completed on 3 June 2016 on the 81st day. But according to the official statement, curfew was not lifted in the centre of the province. Curfew was imposed on 14 March 2016 in Şırnak.

The operations and blockade in Nusaybin district of Mardin were announced to be completed on 3 June 2016 on the 81st day. But according to the official statement, curfew was not lifted in the centre of the province. Curfew was imposed on 14 March 2016 in Şırnak.

(06/014) Curfew in Cizre and İdil…

According to the official announcement on 5 June 2016, the night-curfew in İdil and Cizre districts of Şırnak will be imposed between the hours 23.00-02-30. The military operations in the districts were completed recently.

(06/015) Operations and Attacks in the Southeast…

1 soldier was killed and 1 soldier was heavily wounded when a military vehicle was opened fire on 5 June 2016 at the entrance of Harmancık tunnel in Torul district of Gümüşhane.

1 temporary village guard and 1 militant were killed during an armed clash that broke out after the attack on 5 June 2016 against Yeniaslanbaşar gendarmerie station in Şırnak.

8 soldiers were wounded when a bomb exploded on 3 June 2016 during the passage of a military vehicle on Diyarbakır-Silvan road.

3 soldiers were wounded when Gendarmerie Public Order Command was attacked on 1 June 2016 in Pülümür district of Tunceli.

1 gendarmerie soldier was killed, 2 police officer and 9 soldiers were wounded when a trapped bomb exploded on 1 June 2016 in Fırat quarter of Nusaybin district in Mardin.

1 gendarmerie soldier was killed and 2 soldiers were wounded during an armed clash that broke out on 2 June 2016 in Nusaybin. The bodies of 2 YPS members were found on the same day in Yenişehir quarter of Nusaybin.

Sub-governorate in Lice district of Diyarbakır imposed curfew in 10 villages of the district starting at 11.00am on 4 June 2016 on the grounds of military operations to be conducted in the region.

The bodies of 11 YPS members who were killed during the operations conducted in Şırnak were taken to Şırnak State Hospital.

5 YPS members who were killed during the operations conducted in Şırnak and kept in Şırnak State Hospital were buried on 3 June 2016 without being identified relying on the recent amendments in the Regulation on Forensic Institutes.

The body of an YPS militant was found on 4 June 2016 after the completion of military operations in Yüksekova district of Hakkari.

The body of YPS member Ramazan Öğüt (Devran Amed) who was killed during an armed clash on 2 January 2016 in Sur district of Diyarbakır was identified by his family and buried on 2 June 2016.

The body of Mehmet Bayık (17) who was killed during armed clashes in Silopi district of Şırnak was identified after DNA tests and buried on 2 June 2016.

3 militants were reportedly killed during an armed clash that broke out on 25 May 2016 in the rural area of Kemah district in Erzincan.

(06/016) Extra-judicial Killing in Kilis…

Cemîl Qehreman (16) living in Afrin canton of Rojava was shot to death on 4 June 2016 by the Turkish troops on the grounds that s/he went close to the border.

(06/017) Nihat Kazanhan Case…

Cizre (Şırnak) Heavy Penal Court No 1 continued on 3 June 2016 to hear the case launched in connection with the killing of Nihat Kazanhan (12) by the police on 14 January 2014 in Cizre district of Şırnak.

Eyewitnesses testified at the hearing. The court rejected the demand for the arrest of the defendant police officers U.İ., H.V., O.Ç. and G.T. and adjourned the hearing to 12 August 2016.

The indictment wants the defendants U.İ., H.V., and Mehmet Emin Arslan to be sentenced for “intentional killing”, the defendants O.Ç. and G.T for “not reporting a crime”.

(06/018) Torture and Ill-treatment in Unregistered Custody in Diyarbakır…

M.D. (15) who was detained on 5 June 215 during the meeting “Democratic Meeting of People against Coup d’état (Darbeye karşı demokratik halk buluşmaları)” organised by Peoples’ Democratic Party in Diyarbakır was allegedly taken to the bridge On Gözlü Köprü and left there after being beaten in an armoured vehicle.

(06/019) Correspondent Convicted in Erzurum…

Hınıs (Erzurum) Heavy Penal Court concluded on 2 June 2016 to hear the case against Dicle News Agency (DİHA) correspondent Doğan Akdamar launched on charges of “making propaganda of an illegal organisation” with the messages shared on the internet. The court sentenced the defendant to 1 year and 3 months’ imprisonment.

(06/020) Persons on Trial on the Allegations of Insulting the State President…

According to the news appeared in the press on 4 June 2016, a court case was launched against Hülya Ayık and her husband Hüseyin Ayık who were arrested in Manavgat district of Antalya on the allegations of “insulting the State President” on the internet. Manavgat Penal Court of First Instance will start to hear the case on 11 August 2016.

(06/021) Investigations, Detentions and Arrests on the Allegations of Insulting State President…

According to the news appeared in the press on 2 June 2016, Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects (TMMOB) inspector Ayhan Erdoğan was arrested on the allegations of insulting the State President with the messaged shared on the internet.

(06/022) Political Party Executives on Trial in İzmir…

Yiannis Bournous, Member of the Political Secretariat of SYRIZA / Greece, took part and gave a speech during the meeting of Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) on Gündoğdu Square in İzmir before the elections on 7 June 2015. A court case was launched against 7 executives of Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) for not informing officials about the speech of Yiannis Bournous.

İzmir Penal Court of First Instance No 22 concluded on 1 June 2016 to hear the case. The court sentenced the defendants to 10 months’ imprisonment for “violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations”.

(06/023) Persons on Trial in İstanbul…

Bakırköy (İstanbul) Heavy Penal Court No 2 concluded on 2 June 2016 to hear the case against 2 persons launched after police intervention against a demonstration in September 2015 in Eseler district of İstanbul.

After the final defence as to the accusations, the court acquitted the defendants Ömer Şahin and Ömer Karakoyun on the grounds that the elements of crime were not materialised. The indictment wanted the defendants to be sentenced for “making propaganda of an illegal organisation”, “resisting security forces” and ““attempting to disrupt the unity and territorial integrity of the state”.

(06/024) Ban on Protests in Kahramanmaraş…

Governorate of Kahramanmaraş banned all meetings, demonstrations and public statements in Sivricehüyük village where demonstrations were staged recently to protest in the construction of a refugee camp in Terolar region where most of the population was Alevite people.

(06/025) HDP Meetings Banned…

The meetings “Democratic Meeting of People against Coup d’état (Darbeye karşı demokratik halk buluşmaları)” organised by Peoples’ Democratic Party and to be held on 4 and 5 June 2016 in Adana, İzmir, Diyarbakır and İstanbul were banned by the governorates.

The police prevented the meeting in İstanbul after the ban decision. At least 50 persons were detained during the police intervention.

(06/026) Detentions and Arrests…

The police conducted house raids on 1 June 2016 in Kütahya and detained 15 students in connection with a “Patriotic Revolutionary Youth Movement (YDG-H) Investigation”. 2 students were arrested on 3 June 2016 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation”.

The police conducted operations on 4 June 2016 in Adıyaman and detained 8 persons in connection with a “Patriotic Revolutionary Youth Movement (YDG-H) Investigation”.

Security Forces conducted operations on 2 June 2016 against Democratic Regions Party (DBP), 6 persons in Siirt and former DBP Co-Chair for Ağrı province Necmettin Efe in Ağrı were detained.

Sinan Bozkurt and Vahdettin Erdemci who were among 3 persons detained during house raids in Siirt were arrested on 4 June 2016 on the allegations of “aiding an illegal organisation”. Salih Yıldız and Mirbahattin Yıldız who were detained in Ağr were also arrested on 4 June 2016 for the same reason.

8 persons who were among 14 persons detained in Şanlıurfa were arrested on 5 June 2016 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation”.

6 members and executives of Peoples’ Democratic Party who were detained during operations conducted in Elazığ were arrested on 3 June 2016 on the allegations of “making propaganda of an illegal organisation”.

Haki Erdoğan (64) who was detained in Malazgirt district of Muş was arrested on 3 June 2016 on the allegations of “attempting to overthrow constitutional order”.

Former DBP Co-Chair for Çaldıran district of Van province Abbas Atsak and Cengiz Koç were arrested on 1 June 2016 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation”.

1 person in İzmir and 4 persons in Adıyaman who were detained during the operations of Security Forces were arrested on 6 June 2016 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation”.
