(11/118) Indictment Against Former MP…

On November 18, 2025, Istanbul Criminal Court of First Instance No. 46 accepted the indictment prepared by Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office against former Justice and Development Party (AKP) Izmir MP Hüseyin Kocabıyık on the grounds of an interview he gave and his social media posts. The indictment demands Hüseyin Kocabıyık to be sentenced for ‘insulting the President’. The first hearing of the case will be held on December 16, 2025.

Hüseyin Kocabıyık was arrested on October 7, 2025.

(11/119) Journalist on Trial in Mersin…

The trial of the case against journalist Vedat Örüç continued on November 18, 2025 at Mersin Heavy Penal Court No 6. The indictment demands sentence for Vedat Örüç on the charge of ‘being an illegal organization member’. The court decided to continue the ban on leaving the country and adjourned the trial to January 8, 2026.

Vedat Örüç was detained on January 17, 2025, arrested on January 20, 2025 and released at the first hearing of the case on May 29, 2025.

(11/120) People on Trial in Istanbul…

The trial of the case against 120 people including 3 lawyers who were detained during police intervention to the protest in front of a shopping mall in Şişli district of Istanbul, against the arrest of Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, is held at Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No. 71 on November 17, 2025.

The court decided to lift judicial control measures against 6 people and adjourned the trial to April 27, 2026.

(11/121) Cartoonist on Trial…

The first trial of the case against cartoonist Doğan Pehlevan on the grounds of his social media posts started on November 18, 2025 at Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No 36. The indictment demands sentence for Doğan Pehlevan on the charge of “insulting the President”. The court released Doğan Pehlevan on judicial control conditions of regular signature and ban on leaving the country and adjourned the trial.

It is learned from the news coverage of November 18, 2025 that, on the grounds of his social media post about the Central Bank Governor, Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office initiated an investigation against economist İbrahim Can, and İbrahim Can was called to testify through the investigation.

(11/123) Prison Massacres Case…

The final hearing of the case against 196 people who were in charge of Gendarmerie Command at the time, in relation to the deaths of 12 people and injuries of 29 people in Bayrampaşa Prison during the operation called “Return to Life” on 19 December 2000 in 20 prisons in order to ensure the transition to F Type prisons and to end hunger strikes, was held on 17 November 2025 at Bakırköy Heavy Penal Court No 13. The court dismissed the case on the grounds of statute of limitations.

On January 23, 2025, it is learned from the news coverage of January 23, 2025 that, proceedings on 11 parliamentary members demanding lifting of their parliamentary immunity were sent to Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).

It is learned that 1509 content and posts on various websites and social media accounts of Sabah newspaper columnist Hilal Kaplan are banned to access on the grounds of violation of privacy, by Istanbul Penal Court of Peace No 8 on November 13, 2025.

On November 18, 2025, it is learned from the news coverage of November 18, 2025 that economist İbrahim Can’s social media post about Central Bank Governor is banned to access.
