It is learned from the news coverage of November 17, 2020 that, the final trial of the case against journalist Ali Ergin Demirhan, editor of sendika.org news portal, was held on November 6, 2020 and that the court sentenced Ali Ergin Demirhan to 1 year 2 months and 17 days on the charge of ‘insulting the President’.

The final trial of the case against Progressive Journalists Association (ÇGD) Istanbul representative and Sol news portal managing editor Uğur Güç, on the charge of ‘insulting state institutions’ in a news report he made, is held at Istanbul Anadolu Penal Court of First Instance No 29 on November 17, 2020. The court acquitted Uğur Güç.

The trial of the case against 6 people including 2 arrestees is held at Tunceli Heavy Penal Court No 2 on November 17, 2020.
The indictment demands sentence for 6 people on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’.
Dersim Konak and Hayati Güngören joined the trial via sound and vision system from prison. After defence hearings the court decided to release Dersim Konak and Hayati Güngören and adjourned the trial to January 19, 2021.
Dersim Konak and Hayati Güngören were detained on August 22, 2017 and were arrested on August 24, 2020.

The first trial of the case against 5 people including journalist Oktay Candemir, is held at Van Penal Court of First Instance No 5 on November 17, 2020.
The indictment demands sentence for 5 people on the charges of ‘violating the law on demonstrations and meetings’ and ‘resisting to prevent a public officer from his duty’. These 5 people who had been detained by physical violence used by the police intervening a press declaration, have made a criminal complaint for the police violence, which resulted in non-prosecution decision.
After defence hearings the court adjourned the trial to December 31, 2020.

The trial of the case against lawyer Sevda Çelik Özbingöl is held at Urfa Heavy Penal Court No 6 on November 17, 2020.
The court decided consolidate the case with another case against Sevda Çelik Özbingöl and ruled to continue detention of Sevda Çelik Özbingöl, adjourning the trial to December 11, 2020.
Sevda Çelik Özbingöl was detained on March 12, 2020 through an Urfa based investigation and was arrested by the court on March 17, 2020.

On November 17, 2020, 23 people are detained in operations covering 19 cities through an Istanbul based investigation; 25 people are detained in operations covering 7 cities through a Niğde based investigation and 1 person is detained in Mardin.

The Ministry of Health declared that 103 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and 3,819 new Covid-19 ill patients were diagnosed on November 17, 2020.
The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 11,704 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 421,413 as of November 17, 2020.
It is learned that doctor Mücahit Çelik in Giresun, dentist Bülent Azman in Aydın, and Mesut Arı, driver of a health institution in Isparta, died from Covid-19 on November 17, 2020.
