(06/183) Police Intervention to a Protest in Diyarbakır…
The police prevented the press declaration about isolation of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, organized by the Democratic Society Congress (DTK), Tevgera Jinên Azad – Free Women’s Movement (TJA), Democratic Regions Party (DBP) and Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) in Diyarbakır on June 17, 2021. It is learned that the press declaration was held by HDP MPs. The police prevented the journalists from recording the event. The police intervened the march of some participators, and at least 2 people including HDP Diyarbakır MP Remziye Tosun got injured. It is learned that nobody was detained.

Gamze Toprak and Barış Yıldız, 2 members of the Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP), are detained by the police, at Sultangazi district office of HDP on June 17, 2021. The reason of detention is the banner they hung in Sultangazi district, about the armed assault to Izmir office of HDP.

1 of 10 people who were detained in Diyarbakır on June 14, 2021, is arrested by the court on June 17, 2021. 9 people are released provided that 7 of them will be on judicial control conditions.

It is learned from the news coverage of June 17, 2021 that, an investigation was launched against a person named Ali Sancaktutan, on the grounds of ‘insulting the President’ in his expressions during a street interview and that he made his official statement through the investigation at Rize Directorate of Security.

The first trial of the case against journalist Oktay Candemir is held at Van Heavy Penal Court No 5 on June 17, 2021.
The indictment demands sentence for Oktay Candemir on the charge of ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’ in his social media posts.
The court adjourned the trial to September 23, 2021.

It is learned that the news reports and contents about deputy mayor of Beykoz district of Istanbul, published on https://odatv4.com, https://eksisozluk.com websites are banned to access on the grounds of violation of personal rights, by Beykoz Penal Court of Peace on June 16, 2021.
It is learned that three news reports about a provincial executive of the Justice and Development Party (AKP), published on https://www.cumhuriyet.com.tr, https://artigercek.com websites are banned to access on the grounds of violation of personal rights, by Istanbul Penal Court of Peace No 3 on June 17, 2021.

On June 17, 2021, 15 people are detained in operations covering 5 cities through a Konya based investigation.
(06/190) Covid-19 Pandemic…
The Ministry of Health declared that 62 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and 509 new Covid-19 ill patients were diagnosed on June 17, 2021. It is also declared that the daily number of Covid-19 cases is 5,904.
The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 49,012 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 5,354,153 as of June 17, 2021.
