(09/153) Operations and Attacks…

The Ministry of National Defence declared that 1 soldier (Ümit Solak) died in a clash between Turkish Armed Forces and HPG militants in Avaşin area of the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government on September 17, 2021.

(09/154) Newspapers Not Given to Prisoner…

It is learned from the news coverage of September 18, 2021 that, İbrahim Karakaş, an employee of Yeni Yaşam newspaper who is being kept in Adana Kürküçüler F Type Prison was not given the newspapers he asked, for being considered “undesirable”.

(09/155) Meeting Request with Abdullah Öcalan Not Responded…

It is learned that the appeal made on September 17, 2021 to chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan’s lawyers, family and tutelary in order to visit him was not responded.

(09/156) Police Intervention to a Protest in Ankara…

The police prevented the alternative graduation ceremony held in the Middle East Technical University campus in Ankara on September 19, 2021. The police detained 5 people (Hakan Kıyak, Zeynep Kıyak, Mert Ömerbeyoğlu, Tuğulka Köseoğlu and Aşkın Kızılarslan) by using physical violence. Detained people are released after statement procedures at the police on the same day.

It is learned that Kaldırım music band’s and Grup Munzur band’s concert in Adana which was to be held on September 18, 2021, is banned by the governorate’s office on the grounds of a report received by the police.

(09/158) Detained TİP Members for Distributing Leaflets in Kırklareli…

The police intervened the members of the Workers’ Party of Turkey (TİP) who were distributing leaflets in Lüleburgaz district of Kırklareli on September 19, 2021, and detained 9 people. Detained people are released after statement procedures on the same day.

(09/159) Detained People in Bingöl…

Ahmet Gürdeğir, 1 of 3 people who have been detained by torture and ill-treatment in a house raid in Kerpiksuyu village of central district of Bingöl on September 14, 2021, is arrested by the court on the charge of ‘aiding an illegal organisation’ on September 18, 2021. 2 people (Bermal Gürdeğir and Azad Gürdeğir) are released on judicial control conditions.

(09/160) Detained People in Adıyaman…

3 people Medet Akar, Cihan Çıtrık and Ali Turak) who have been detained in house raids in Adıyaman are arrested by the court on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ on September 18, 2021.

(09/161) Detained The Left Party Member and Other People in Rize…

On September 18, 2021, after the quarrel that took place between company representatives and the residents of Fıkdıklı district of Rize, regarding the HEPP project to be constructed there; 4 people including Behçet Ertaş, a member of the Left Party, are detained by the police.

(09/162) Members and Executives of Political Parties, Associations and City Council Members on Trial in Antep…

The trial of the case against 29 people (7 of them are arrested) including members and executives of Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), Socialist Refoundation Party (SYKP), Human Rights Association (IHD), Association of 78 Generation, and Peace Mothers Assembly along with lawyers and members of city councils, is held at Antep Heavy Penal Court No 2 on September 17, 2021.

The indictment demands sentence for these people on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’, for their activities within political parties and associations.

After defence hearings the court released 7 people (Remziye Erden, Musa Aydın, Bahri Yarış, Hasan Saran, Mehmet Avşar, Hurşit Besle ve İsa Aslan) and adjourned the trial.

29 people were detained on July 14, 2020; and 18 of them were arrested on July 16, 2020 and on following days. 11 (Abdullah Acar, Avukat Adnan Erol, Ali Şimşek, Cüneyt Kaya, Ömer Sungur, Sevinç Selçuk, Songül Koçdağ, Recai Yılmaz, Enver Özmen, İbrahim Dağ and Remziye Kuş) were released from prison by the court at the first trial held on January 4-6, 2021.

(09/163) Conscientious Objector on Trial in Siirt…

The final trial of the case against conscientious objector Zana Aksu, is held at Eruh Penal Court of First Instance on September 17, 2021.

The court sentenced Zana Aksu to 18 months and a fine of 10,000 Turkish Liras on the charge of ‘opposing to the Military Service Law’.

(09/164) Efe Tektekin Case…

It is learned from the news coverage of September 17, 2021 that, the expert report based on the crime scene investigation on death of Efe Tektekin (5), due to being hit by an armoured police vehicle in Bağlar district of Diyarbakır on September 11, 2019, is submitted to the court.

The report states that Ahmet Tektekin, father of Efe Tektekin has been found primarily negligent on the grounds that “he did not protect his child”; whereas the police officer İ. A. has the ‘secondary fault’ as he “did not decrease the speed of the vehicle and conducted it in a way that could be dangerous in terms of lives, health conditions and assets of other people”.

It is learned from the news coverage of September 18, 2021 that, the 82th issue of Theory and Politics magazine is pulled off the shelves because of an article about İbrahim Kaypakkaya covered by the magazine.

(09/167) Covid-19 Pandemic…

The Ministry of Health declared that 237 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and the daily number of Covid-19 cases is 27,692 as of September 17, 2021.

The Ministry of Health declared that 221 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and the daily number of Covid-19 cases is 26,161 as of September 18, 2021.

The Ministry of Health declared that 213 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and the daily number of Covid-19 cases is 26,398 as of September 19, 2021.

The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 62,000 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 6,823,651 as of September 19, 2021.

On September 17, 2021, doctor Kenan Alioğlu in Kocaeli lost his life due to Covie-19.

On September 19, Professor Mehmet Bülent Tırnaksız in Istanbul lost his life due to Covid-19.
