It is learned from the news coverage of June 16, 2022 that, 1 militant died in a clash between Turkish Armed Forces units and HPG militants in Zap area of the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government on May 15, 2022.

It is learned from the news coverage of June 16, 2022 that, İzzeddin Yenigün, a prisoner in Maraş Türkoğlu Prison was not taken to the doctor’s office for the last 3 months.
(06/204) Police Intervention to a Protest in Istanbul…
The police intervened the “Justice Watch” about ill prisoners, held in front of Çağlayan Courthouse in Istanbul on June 16, 2022 and detained 9 people by using physical violence. Detained people are released on the same day.
The names of detained people learned so far are: Fince Akman, Cemile Karakaş, Dilber Demir, Şükran Diler, Leyla Aydemir, Ayşe Gürbüz, Yunus Ünal.

The police intervened the press declaration which were made within the scope of “I Want My Job Back Protest” in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on June 16, 2022 and forced people away from the monument by using physical violence.

Journalist İnci Hekimoğlu who was detained in Izmir on June 16, 2022 on the grounds of social media posts, is released after statement procedures on the same day.

It is learned that 4 musicians who were detained through the investigation about yellow, red and green coloured scarfs worn during a wedding ceremony in Esenyurt district of Istanbul, are released by the court on judicial control conditions on June 16, 2022. 10 people have been arrested through the investigation.

On June 15, 2022, 2 people were detained in Van on the grounds that they were wearing a t-shirt with the picture of the former co-chair of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Selahattin Demirtaş, and 6 people were also detained on the grounds that they reacted to the detention of these 2 people. 8 people are released after statement procedures at the police on June 16, 2022.

The final trial of the case against the Republican People’s Party (CHP) Malatya MP Veli Ağbaba, on the grounds of insulting the President in a speech, is held at Ankara Civil Court No 4 on June 16, 2022. The court sentenced Veli Ağbaba to pay the President 15,000 TL for non-pecuniary damage.

The trial of the case against co-executive editor Eren Keskin and managing editor Reyhan Çapan from Özgür Gündem newspaper which was closed down by a state of emergency decree, is held at Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No 2 on June 16, 2022. The court adjourned the trial to November 22, 2022.

The trial of the case against Hüseyin Aykol and Zana Kaya, executive editor İnan Kızılkaya, editor in chief of Özgür Gündem newspaper and politician Hatip Dicle, is held at Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No 22 on June 16, 2022. The court decided to continue detention warrant for Hatip Dicle and adjourned the trial to November 22, 2022.

The indictment of Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office against journalist Metin Yoksu for his social media posts, is accepted by Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 23 on June 17, 2022. The indictment demands sentence for Metin Yoksu on the charge of ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’. The first trial will be held on October 26, 2022.

The trial of the case against 51 people who were detained by the police intervening the press declaration of the United Struggle Forces in Istanbul on February 4, 2021, is held at Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No 35 on June 16, 2022. After defence hearings the court adjourned the trial to December 1, 2022.

The final trial of the case against Mehmet Yıldırım, the brother of Medeni Yıldırım, who lost his life as a result of the gunfire opened by the soldiers during a protest in Lice, is held at Diyarbakır Penal Court of First Instance No 4 on June 16, 2022. The court sentenced Mehmet Yıldırım to 1 year, 2 months and 17 days for ‘insulting the President’ and deferred the announcement of the verdict.
(06/215) Ankara Gezi Case…
The trial of the case against 26 people for the Gezi Park protests in Ankara in 2013, is held at Ankara Heavy Penal Court No 14 on June 16, 2022. The prosecutor has changed the legal opinion and has demanded sentence for 26 people on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ although the first opinion was for acquittal. After defence hearings the court adjourned the trial to October 12, 2022.

It is learned from the news coverage of June 16, 2022 that, 2 proceedings demanding lift of impunity of 2 parliamentary members are prepared.
Parliamentary members subjected to proceedings are:
- Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Co-Chair and Diyarbakır MP Saliha Aydeniz
- HDP Tunceli MP Alican Önlü.
