(04/123) Mayor and Others Detained in Uşak…

Five people, including Yılmaz Tozan, the mayor of the Eşme district in Uşak, were detained on April 17, 2026, on charges of “extortion.”

(04/124) Political Party Official Detained in Hakkari…

Cahide Töre, the district manager of the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) in Yüksekova, was detained at the District Police Department on April 16, 2026, after being summoned to give a statement as part of an investigation initiated on the grounds that she participated in Newroz celebrations.

(04/125) Individuals Detained in İzmir…

It was reported that on April 17, 2026, during home raids conducted by the gendarmerie in İzmir, eight individuals working at the company Temel Conta, which operates in the Pancar Organized Industrial Zone, and who had participated in a strike that had been ongoing for one and a half years, were detained.

On April 16, 2026, as part of an investigation targeting the Nilüfer District Municipality in Bursa, three individuals were detained on charges of “forming and leading an organization for the purpose of committing a crime,” “membership in an organization formed for the purpose of committing a crime,” “bribery,” and “laundering assets derived from criminal activities.”

The General Directorate of Security announced that, as of April 16, 2026, 127 individuals had been detained on the grounds of social media posts related to the armed attacks at two schools in Urfa and Maraş.

(04/128) Discriminatory Practice at a Hotel in Istanbul…

It was learned from news reports on April 17, 2026, that a request to book a room at a hotel in Istanbul’s Beyoğlu district was denied on the grounds that Israeli and Palestinian guests would not be accommodated.

(04/129) Internet Addresses Subject to Access Restrictions…

The General Directorate of Security announced that access to 1,115 internet addresses was restricted on the grounds of posts related to the armed attacks at two schools in Urfa and Maraş.

(04/130) Television Channels Fined by RTÜK…

According to news reports on April 16, 2026, the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) imposed an administrative fine on TV8 for remarks made on the program “Zuhal Topal’la Yemekteyiz” and an administrative fine along with a one-time program suspension on TLC for the film titled “Geber.”
