On April 16, 2025 it is learned from news coverage of April 16, 2005 that prisoners in Erzincan Women’s Prison were restricted in their social, cultural and communication rights.
On April 17, 2005 it is learned from news coverage of the press that during the searches in the wards of Erzurum Dumlu High Security Prison No 2, personal belongings and daily use materials of the prisoners were damaged and prisoners were threatened by saying that “if this solution process ends we will know what to do to you”.

It is learned from news coverage of April 16, 2025 that, the release of Hasip Avşar, a prisoner in Aksaray T Type Prison, who completed the execution of his life sentence, is postponed for 3 months by Prison Administration and Monitoring Board (CİGK).

Lawyer Selçuk Kozağaçlı, the honorary chairman of the Progressive Lawyers Association (ÇHD), who was released on April 16, 2025 after completing the execution of his 11 years and 3 months imprisonment sentence for ‘being an illegal organization member’, was re-arrested and sent to prison on April 17, 2025 after the prosecutor’s objection to his release was accepted by the execution judge.

The trial of the case against 5 people including Mehmet Ali Amak, co-mayor of Artuklu district of Mardin, is held at Mardin Heavy Penal Court No 3 on April 16, 2025. The indictment demands sentence for 5 people on the charges of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ and ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’. The court adjourned the trial to May 28, 2025.

The first trial of the case against journalist Welat Ekin started on April 16, 2025 at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 23. The indictment demands sentence for Welat Ekin on the charge of ‘being an illegal organization member’. After the defenses, the court acquitted Welat Ekin and released him.
Welat Ekin was arrested on January 20, 2025.

The trial of the case against Mücadele Birliği reporter Lütfiye Burcu Kara continued on April 15, 2025 at Izmir Heavy Penal Court No 2. The indictment demands sentence for Lütfiye Burcu Kara on the charge of ‘being an illegal organization member’. The prosecutor declared his final opinion on the case and demanded Lütfiye Burcu Kara’s acquittal. The court adjourned the trial to May 22, 2025.

The indictment of Antep Nizip Public Prosecutor’s Office against journalist Derya Ren for insulting the police officers who detained him was accepted by Nizip Criminal Court of First Instance No 5 on April 16, 2025. The first hearing of the case will be held on May 6, 2025.

The trial of the case against 3 police officers (A.P.İ, İ K and L.K.) about the death of a person named Mikail Ekinci due to gunfire in Çermik district of Diyarbakır on April 1, 2023, continued on April 16, 2025 at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 6. The indictment demands sentence for the police officers on the charge of ‘killing with probable intent’. The court rejected the demand for arrest of the police officers and adjourned the trial to September 30, 2025.

It is learned that a person named C.E. was detained on April 16, 2025 in relation to the armed attack to Ashkenazi Synagogue in Beyoğlu district of Istanbul on April 7, 2025 and was arrested by the criminal court of peace on the same day.

On April 17, 2025, it is learned from the news coverage of April 17, 2025 that 59 social media accounts were banned from access on the grounds of ‘protection of national security and public order’. It is also stated in the news reports that 13 accounts and 1 social media post were made invisible from Turkey.
