(11/154) Person Died by Gendarmerie Fire for ‘Disobeying Stop Warning’ in Sakarya…

It is learned that a person (L. Y.) was shot by the gendarmerie on the grounds of ‘disobeying stop warning’ in Cumhuriyet neighbourhood of Karapürçek district of Sakarya and lost his life in hospital on November 15, 2021.

(11/155) Labour Killings…

On November 15, 2021, the Worker Health and Worker Safety Council (ISIG) revealed that at least 165 workers including 16 women, 2 children and 5 migrants died while working in October 2021. It is stated in the report that at least 1853 workers lost their lives in the first ten months of 2021, and 32 workers lost their lives from Covid-19 in October 2021.

(11/156) Torture and Ill-Treatment Under Custody in Mardin…

It is learned from the news coverage of November 15, 2021 that, 3 of 5 people (A. A., H. E. and H. E.) who were detained in Nusaybin district of Mardin on November 14, 2021 were subjected to torture and ill-treatment under custody.

A. A. stated the following to the press: “A tall, thin person wearing a blue shirt, whom I can recognize if I see once again, beat me with slaps. This police officer also cursed me.”

Detained 5 people are released by the court provided that 3 of them will be on judicial control conditions, on November 15, 2021.

(11/157) Torture and Ill-Treatment in Prison…

It is learned from the news coverage of November 15, 2021 that 7 prisoners (Hüseyin Ulaş Elter, Sezai Bulu, Diyadin Sezgin, Aslan Kaplan, Hakkari Aydoğdu, Metin Uyar and İbrahim Tekin) in Van F Type Prison were transferred to other prisons under coercion. The prisons that these prisoners are sent to are unknown.

It is learned from the news coverage of November 15, 2021 that, 20 prisoners who have been subjected to torture and ill-treatment of the correction officers during a ward search in Urfa T Type Prison No 2 on October 7, 2021, were subjected to disciplinary proceedings on the grounds of ‘using expressions or acting in a way that could cause fear, concern or panic in the penal institution’.

It is learned from the news coverage of November 15, 2021 that, Naif İşçi, a prisoner who has been transferred from Balıkesir Bandırma T Type Prison No 1 to Bitlis Ahlat T Type Prison was being kept in a solitary cell.

It is learned from the news coverage of November 15, 2021 that, Naif İşçi, an ill prisoner in Bitlis Ahlat T Type Prison has difficulties in walking because of the implant in his leg that was not removed.

(11/159) Police Intervention to a Protest in Istanbul…

The police intervened the press declaration for ill prisoners, held in Beyoğlu district of Istanbul on November 15, 2021, and detained 2 people. Detained people (Nergis Doğru and Özmen Mertkan Çim) are released on the same day.

(11/160) Detained Israeli Journalist in Istanbul…

It is learned that Israeli journalist Ali Mograbi, who was having a live broadcast on 2 Israeli citizens who were arrested on the grounds of ‘espionage’ for taking photographs of President Erdoğan’s house in Istanbul on November 12, 2021; is detained by the police on November 15, 2021. It is learned that Ali Mograbi was released after all the footage he recorded was deleted and that the police asked him not to leave his hotel.

(11/161) Detained Journalist in Mersin…

On November 15, 2021, the police raided journalist Burak Şefkat’s house in Mersin. It is stated that the police could not find Burak Şefkat in the house and called him to the nearest police station. It is learned that Burak Şefkat went to a police station in Tarsus district where he was said “You are our guest, we are waiting for an order” and was not allowed to leave although there is no detention warrant for him. It is learned that he was then taken to Tarsus District Security Directorate and was released after statement procedures. It is stated in the news reports that his house was raided a few hours before the social media live broadcast that he was going to do on bribery allegations in the Second Organized Industrial Zone in Iskenderun district.

(11/162) Detained Party and Union Executives and Other People in Diyarbakır…

On November 8, 2021, 19 people including political party, union and association executives and Peace Mothers have been detained through a Diyarbakır based investigation. 14 of them are arrested by the court on November 15, 2021. Arrested people are: Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Diyarbakır provincial executives Mehmet Asana, Şeyhmus Yavuz, HDP Bağlar district co-chair Nasır Yelter and district executive Hüseyin Baran, HDP Bismil district co-chair Mehmet Şakir Demir, HDP Local Authorities Committee member Ömer Filitoğlu, Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Diyarbakır provincial executives Yasemin Akengin, Mehmet Ali Alkan, Mehmet Süslü and Abdullah Dengiz, Socialist Party of Kurdistan (PSK) deputy chair Bayram Bozyel, Pir Sultan Abdal Cultural Association (PSAKD) executive Erkan Keskin, Health and Social Services Employees’ Union (SES) branch executive Gülhan Tekin, Education and Science Employees’ Union branch co-chair Arzu Koç, Peace Mothers Assembly member Nezife Yiğit. 5 people are released while 1 of them (Şeyhmuz Yavuz) will be on judicial control conditions and 1 of them (Şehrat Uyanık) will be on house confinement.

It is learned that Socialist Party of Kurdistan (PSK) deputy chair Bayram Bozyel is released from prison after the objection on the same day.

(11/163) Arrested Person for ‘Insulting the President’ in Tekirdağ…

A person (H. B.) who was detained on the grounds of ‘insulting the President’ in Muratlı district of Tekirdağ on November 15, 2021 is arrested by the court on the same day.

(11/164) Detained People in Şırnak…

4 people (Ferhan Katar, Muhittin Barınç, Emin Çavlak and 1 more person) who were detained in Şırnak on November 12, 2021, are released by the court on judicial control conditions on November 15, 2021.

(11/165) Journalist and Other People on Trial in Hatay…

The final trial of the case against 28 people, including journalist Ali Arslan Dadük, for the commemoration held in Samandağ district of Hatay on July 21, 2015, for those who lost their lives in the Suruç Massacre, is held on November 12, 2021. Ali Arslan Dadük was handcuffed behind his back while he was reporting on the commemoration and he has submitted documents proving his profession as a journalist to the court during the trials. The court sentenced Ali Arslan Dadük to 10 months on the charges of ‘participating in unlawful meetings’ and ‘resisting to prevent public duty’. The court sentenced 7 people to 10 months each on the same charges and postponed the sentence. The court acquitted 20 people.

(11/166) Attack on IYI PArty Stand in Izmir…

It is learned that 2 persons verbally and physically attacked on a public stand of IYI PArty in Buca district of Izmir on November 15, 2021. It is learned that 1 person is detained in relation to the attack.

IYI Party Izmir chair stated the following to the press: “A person approaches to our public stand in the afternoon, and curses our chair Meral Akşener, and then this person rans away. Another person arrives a few minutes later, and this person curses and kicks our stand, and also twists the arm of a female party member.”

(11/167) Racist Attack on HDP Office in Urfa…

It is learned that anonymous person or persons drew a cross and racist figures on the door of HDP’s provincial office in Urfa on November 15, 2021. It is reported that the video footage of security cameras around were not given to the executives of HDP on the grounds of lack of the prosecutor’s permission.

(11/168) Covid-19 Pandemic…

The Ministry of Health declared that 215 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and the daily number of Covid-19 cases is 23,852 as of November 15, 2021.

The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 73,746 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 8,432,018 as of November 15, 2021.

It is learned that 2 health workers (pharmacist technician Vehbi Kıymacı in Hatay and laboratory technician İhsan Kaftar in Izmir) lost their lives due to Covid-19 on November 15, 2021.
