Ahmet Çetin Genç, a 17-year-old child who had been injured due to being hit by motorbike police team in Urfa on December 30, 2020; lost his life in Mehmet Akif Inan Public Hospital on March 14, 2021.

It is learned from the news coverage of March 15, 2021 that, in Bolu F Type Prison, personal belongings of prisoners were being scattered around during ward searches and that prisoners on hunger strike demanding an end to isolation of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan were insulted by correction officers.

The police intervened Newroz celebration in Beylikdüzü district of Istanbul on March 15, 2021 and seized sky lanterns. The police also took Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) district co-chair Aydın Alp and district executive Ismail Türkmen to police station of official statements.

The police intervened the justice watch of Emine Şenyaşar in front of Urfa Courthouse on its 7th day on March 15, 2021 and detained her on the grounds of ‘insulting a public officer’; Emine Şenyaşar is released after statement procedures on the same day. On June 14, 2018, Justice and Development Party Urfa MP candidate İbrahim Halil Yıldız and his personal guards had a quarrel with shopkeepers in Suruç district of Urfa which resulted in death of Emine Şenyaşar’s husband Hacı Esved Şenyaşar and her sons Adil and Celal Şenyaşar.

The final trial of the case against HDP’s provincial executive in Diyarbakır Murat Öndeş, for protests and events he participated in, is held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 1 on March 15, 2021. After defence hearings the court sentenced Murat Öndeş to 6 years and 3 months on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’.

It is learned that on March 15, 2021, Socialist Youth Associations Federation (SGDF) central executive board member Birkan Polat was imposed a penalty fine of 13,327 Turkish Liras for hanging posters “Universities are not AKP organisations, the trustees will go” regarding the new rector appointed to Boğaziçi University.

It is learned that social media posts by Republican People’s Party (CHP) group deputy chair Engin Özkoç and CHP MP Aykut Edoğdu, regarding foreign exchange reserves of Turkish Central Bank are banned to access on the grounds of violation of personal rights by Istanbul Anadolu Penal Court of Peace No 8 on March 5, 2021.

On March 15, 2021, 24 people are detained in operations covering 32 cities through a Balıkesir based investigation.
18 of 31 people who were detained in Izmir on March 8, 2021 are arrested by the court on March 15, 2021 while 13 of them are released on judicial control conditions.

The Ministry of Health declared that 63 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and 858 new Covid-19 ill patients were diagnosed on March 15, 2021. It is also declared that the daily number of Covid-19 case is 15,503.
The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 29,552 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 2,894,893 as of March 15, 2021.
