It is learned from the news coverage of June 15, 2021 that, 3 militants died in a clash between Turkish Armed Forces units and HPG militants in Zap area of Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Governments on May 31, 2021.
(06/155) Attack to Mayor in Aydın…
On June 15, 2021, Ahmet Deniz Atabey, the Republican People’s Party (CHP) mayor of Didim district of Aydın and his lawyer were attacked by a group of 4 people and both of them got wounded. It is learned that 6 people (İ. O., Y. C. Ö., B. D., M. O., F. Ö., A. S.) are detained in relation to the attack.

Mustafa Bıyık, IYI Party mayor of Yomra district of Trabzon, has been subjected to an armoured attack on June 11, 2021, and 1 person (A. K.) is detained in relation to the attack on June 15, 2021. 2 people (Halit A. and Tolgahan K.) have been detained and arrested by the court on June 13, 2021.

It is learned from the news coverage of June 15, 2021 that, in Denizli T Type Prison, the amount of water given to prisoners is limited.

It is learned that the appeal made on June 15, 2021 to chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan’s lawyers in order to visit their client was not responded.
(06/159) Detained People in Ankara…
3 people (Nursel Tanrıverdi, Merve Demirel and Muhammet Yıldız) who went to the Grand National Assembly to meet some parliamentary members on June 15, 2021, are detained at the gate on the grounds of ‘violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations’. Detained people are released after statement procedures on the same day.

The trial of the case against 108 members and executives of Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) including former co-chairs, is held at Ankara Heavy Penal Court No 22 on June 14 and 15, 2021.
It is learned that the recusation request of the defence lawyers was rejected by the superior court on June 14, 2021. It is reported that the chief judge interrupted the defence lawyers and demanded legal opinion of the prosecutor on several demands of the defence although several lawyers asked to speak.
On June 15, 2021, the court released 4 people (Ayhan Bilgen, Berfin Özgü Köse, Can Memiş and Cihan Erdal) on judicial control conditions. The trial will continue on June 16, 2021.
(06/161) Journalist on Trial in Diyarbakır…
The trial of the case against journalist Ayşe Kara, on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ for her news reports, is held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 5 on June 15, 2021. After defence hearings the court decided to continue ban on leaving the country for Ayşe Kara and adjourned the trial to November 9, 2021.
(06/162) Ayten Öztürk Case…
Ayten Öztürk, who was subjected to torture and ill-treatment for 6 months when she was being interrogated by National Intelligence Service (MIT) after being detained on March 8, 2018 in Lebanon; was released by the court on house confinement on June 10, 2021. However, she was detained through another investigation, as soon as she was released from prison, and then was released. It is learned that Ayten Öztürk was detained once again upon the prosecutor’s objection on June 15, 2021; and she was released by the court on the same day.

It is learned from the news coverage of June 15, 2021 that, the appeal to the court for the stay of execution of the ban on the play “Bêrû: Klakson Borîzan û Birt” of Teatra Jiyana Nû by Gaziosmanpaşa Sub-Governorate, was rejected by Istanbul Administrative Court No 10 on May 31, 2021.

Necra Tamriş, co-mayor of Çınar district and Eğil district council member Bahar Karakaş Uluğ, Kayapınar district council members Nursel Akbal, Ruken Bekalp, Yenişehir district council member Emine Kaya and Ergani district council member Sevican Yaşar are suspended by the Ministry of Interior on June 15, 2021.

Osmaniye Governorate made a declaration on June 13, 2021 and banned all demonstrations, indoor and open door meetings, marches, press declarations, opening tents and stands, sit-in protests, collecting petitions, commemorations and so on for 15 days as of June 13, 2021.

On June 15, 2021, 17 days are detained in house raids in Ankara; and 5 people are detained in Edirne in an alleged attempt to illegally cross to Greece.

The final trial of the case against writer Talha Uğurluel is held at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 28 on June 15, 2021. The court sentenced the defendant to 6 years and 3 months on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’.
(06/168) Covid-19 Pandemic…
The Ministry of Health declared that 84 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and 532 new Covid-19 ill patients were diagnosed on June 15, 2021. It is also declared that the daily number of Covid-19 cases is 5,955.
The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 48,879 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 5,342,028 as of June 15, 2021.
