It is learned that 2 people (Emir Çakar and Metin Çakar) were subjected to physical violence of the police during a house raid in Kızıltepe district of Mardin on January 15, 2026. Metin Çakar had a heart attack and was hospitalized.

The police prevented the press declaration in front of the courthouse before the first hearing of the case on January 15, 2026 at Ankara Penal Court of First Instance No 57 on the allegations of sexual harassment of children interning at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).
(01/088) Detained People in Diyarbakır for Protests…
4 people (Baran Çınar, Hayat Özmez, Muhammed Altınkaya and Roza Bakı) who were detained for participating in the protests in Diyarbakır about the attacks on Kurdish neighbourhoods in Aleppo, Syria, were arrested by the criminal court of peace on January 15, 2026 on the charges of ‘participating in meetings and demonstrations by carrying weapons and similar devices or making themselves unrecognizable’ and ‘participating in unlawful meetings and demonstrations without weapons and not dispersing despite a warning’.
1 of 4 children who were detained for participating in the protest in Silopi district of Şırnak for the same reason, is arrested by the criminal court of peace on January 15, 2026. 3 children are released with a ban on leaving the country and judicial control measures.
3 people (DİSK Genel-İş Şırnak Branch Co-Chair Ayhan Ergen, Ferhat Altıntaş and Sıddık Akça) were detained during the police intervention against the protest organized in Şırnak for the same reason. On January 15, 2026, they were released by the criminal court of peace on judicial control conditions.
On January 15, 2025, 5 people (Mehmet Nur Tanırğan, Emir Çakar, Yusuf Eliş, Ali Turğay and Tacettin Aslan) are detained for participating in the protests in Kızıltepe district of Mardin for the same reason. It is also reported that a total of 30 people were detained in Mardin as of January 15, 2025.

It is learned from news coverage of January 16, 2026 that, 3 children in Afşin district of Maraş are detained for allegedly attacking an Atatürk statue in the district.

The final hearing of the lawsuit filed on the grounds of a statement made by Hüseyin Baş, chair of Büyük Türkiye Party, was held at Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No 11 on January 15, 2026. The court acquitted Hüseyin Baş on the charge of ‘insulting the President’.

The trial of the case against lawyer Adile Salman continued on May 15, 2024 at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 5. The indictment demands sentence for the lawyer on the charge of ‘being an illegal organization member’. The court adjourned the hearing to a later date.

It is learned that journalists who wanted to follow the first hearing of the case on January 15, 2026 at Ankara Penal Court of First Instance No 57, on the allegations of sexual harassment of children interning at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, were not allowed into the courtroom.
