(02/142) Minibus Targeted by Police…
An armored vehicle (plate number 21 DB 463) open fired to a minibus carrying 10 passenger from Lice to Diyarbakır city center on 15 February 2017 at Bingol turnout. Metin Bekaroğlu, a journalist, was on the minibus and he told the press that even though they had called no crime scene investigation unit came and that after this incident the armored vehicle leaded to Lice direction.

7 persons were injured when an armored vehicle hit a minibus carrying passengers on 15 February 2017 in Sabaniye village of Van’s Edremit district. Names of the injured persons: Zeynep Kahraman, Ayşenur Dilce, Bahoz Merhem, Hazal Aslan, Fatma Akbulut, Oktay Bozdüz and Medine Çağlı.

Co-Mayor of Çaldiran district of Van Faruk Demirwas was detained on 15 February 2017 during a house raid. Demir was taken to court on the same day and was arrested for ‘being a member of an illegal organization.’

Public employees who were expelled via a Decree with the Force of Law were detained forcibly for 35th time (on 16 February 2017) when they made a sit down saying ‘we want our job back.’
It is reported that police fine them according to the Code on Misdemeanors every time they detain them and later release them.

7 education employees from Egitim-Sen were forcibly detained when the police intervened their stand. Two persons who protested the detentions were also detained forcibly. Names of the detainees are as follows: Savaş İlhan, Gülten Erden Karadaş, Erdal Karadaş, Yücel Karaosman, Kadir Özdemir, Mehmet Atlı, Erdoğan Polat and two other persons whose names were not reached.

10 persons were detained on 15 February 2017 in Adana for ‘being a member of an illegal organisation.’
7 persons, including HDP Co-Chiar for Turgutlu district Sulhaddin Dagli and students from Celal Bayar University were detained on 15 February 2017 in Manisa.
Police raided the house of Co-Chair of SYKP Tulay Hatimogullari on 15 February 2017 in Hatay. Hatimogullari was not detained because she was not at home but SYKP Party Assembly Member Sevgi Kurtdere was detained.
Dedo Aymaz, Hasan Aymaz and Bestami Gocer was detained on 15 February 2017 in Yalangoz village of Hatay’s Antakya district during house raids in gendarme operation.
Cana Sanoplu was detained on 15 February 2017 in Antakya during a house raid.
Suleyman Baser, HDP Istanbul provincial executive in charge of press, was detained on 15 February 2017 in Istanbul during street ID control of police.
4 persons, including children, were detained on 15 February 2017 during house raids made after the bomb attack to an armored vehicle in Dargecit. Names of the detainees are as follows: Siraç Ataç, R.G. (15, male), Beşir Mete, M.A. (17, male.). The detainees are taken to Dargecit Police Headquarter.
10 persons, including HDP Co-Chair for Pamukkale, were detained on 15 February 2017 in Denizli during house raids.
15 persons were detained on 15 February 2017 in Kozluk ditirct of Batman during hıuse raids. Detainees are taken to Gendarme District Command.
5 persons were detained on 15 February 2017 in Cizre. Names of the detainees are as follows: Metin Bayık, Mehmet Ecevit, Abdulkerim Atabay, Hüseyin Çakıtaş ve a peace mother named Habibe (her family name could not be reached).
3 persons were arrested on 15 February 2017 in Adiyaman for ‘making propaganda of an illegal organization.’ Their names are as follows: Sedat Yakan, Cemile Ozkan and another person whose name could not be reached.
Former DBP Co-Chair to Gulseven Yıldız, former DBP provincial executive Necla Kılıc and DBP district council Selvi, who were detained on 13 February 2017, were arrested on 15 February 2017 for ‘being a member of an illegal organization.’
36 persons, who were detained in Mersin during the police operations, were taken to the court on 15 February 2017. 6 persons were arrested for ‘being a member of an illegal organization’ and ‘making propaganda of an illegal organization.’ 28 persons were released with a judicial control condition. One of the persons who were released was Diren Keskin, a reporter of Pir News Agency.
22 persons who were detained on 3 February 2017 in Adana for their social media shares were released on 15 February 2017 with a judicial control condition.

27 police officers, including 3 chiefs of police, were detained on 15 February 2017 in Adana, Mersin, Osmaniye, Maras, Elazig and Kayseri during a Adana centered police operation.

Ferhat Encü was released by Sırnak Heavy Penal Court No 2 to be tired without a remand on 15 February 2017.
Van Public Prosecutor’s Office prepared an indictment against HDP Van PMs Lezgin Botan and Tugba Hezer for ‘insulting the Head of State.’ The indictmen is accepted by Van Penal Court of First Instance No 3.
(02/150) Odatv Case…
Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 18 continued the case, known as the the Odatv case, on 15 February 2017 against 13 persons, including journalists Ahmet Sık, Nedim Sener, Soner Yalcın, writer Yalcin Kucuk and former police chief Hanefi Avcı. After the defenses, the court adjourned the hearing to 12 April 2017.
A group of visitors, including academics and journalists, were not allowed into the court room.
(02/151) Person on Trial for ‘Insulting the Head of State’…
Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance continued on 15 February 2015 the case against Demirhan Caglayan, the editor of sendika.org. The indictment wants the defendant to be sentenced for ‘insulting the Head of State’ because of a video he published the video of the funeral of a person who had lost his life in 10 October Massacre. After the defenses the court acquitted Caglayan.

On 15 February 2017, Ministry of Interior appointed Tekin Dündar, sub-governor of Caldıran, as a trustee to Caldıran District Municipality in Van province.
On 15 February 2017, Ministry of Interior appointed Ibrahim Bayir, sub-governor of Saray, as a trustee to Saray District Municipality in Van province.
The total number of trustees appointed to municipalities reached the number of 81.
(02/153) Police Intervention to 15 February Demonstrations…
Police intervened to persons who marched to protest the anniversary of the delivery of Abdullah Ocalan to Turkey in Gulbahce quarter of Adana’s Seyhan District with tear gas and pressurized water.
5 children were detained on 15 February 2017 in Dadioglu quarter of Seyhan District for burning tires.
