It is learned from the news coverage of September 13, 2022 that, 1 militant died in a clash between the Turkish Armed Forces units and HPG militants in Qandil area of the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government in August 2022.
(09/136) Detained Municipality Employees in Mersin…
It is learned that 10 employees of the Mersin Metropolitan Municipality were detained in house raids on September 15, 2022, on the grounds of ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’. Detained people are: A. K., F. E., A. K., B. B., D. B., H. S., K. B., M. E. İ., İ. G. and S. M.
(09/137) Journalists on Trial in Istanbul…
The trial of the case against 4 people including Etkin News Agency editor Semiha Şahin and reporter Pınar Gayıp, on Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 23 is held on September 14, 2022. The indictment demands sentence for 4 people on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’. It is learned that the court board was changed and the trial was adjourned upon the lawyers’ request.
(09/138) People on Trial in Ankara…
The first trial of the case against 8 people who were detained in the police intervention against the protest about withdrawal from the Istanbul Convention, in Ankara on August 12, 2020; is held at Ankara Penal Court of First Instance No. 53 on September 14, 2022. It is learned that It was learned that during the defences, a police officer took a photograph of the defendant, and as this was noticed by the lawyers, the officer was taken out of the courtroom and the lawyers demanded a criminal complaint against him. After the defences, the court adjourned the trial to January 17, 2023.
(09/139) Prisoners on Trial in Ankara…
The trial of the case against 11 prisoners (Berin Sarı, Fatma Aslan, Nevroz Müçel, Simanur Pamuk, Zeynep Bingöl, Bermal Birtek, Demet Resuloğlu, Dilan Aslan, Hicran Binici, Servin Karakoç and Zeynep Sipcik) in Ankara Sincan Women’s Prison, on the grounds that they have made vinegar in their ward, is held at Ankara Penal Court of First Instance No. 14 on September 14, 2022. After defence hearings the court adjourned the trial to November 2, 2022.

It is learned from the news coverage of September 15, 2022 that, Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation on the charge of ‘insulting the President’ against social media users who shared videos covering the President. The number of social media users subjected to investigation is unknown.
(09/141) Investigation Against Police Officers…
It is learned from the news coverage of September 14, 2022 that, Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation on the charge of ‘torture and ill-treatment’ against 4 police officers, upon the criminal complaint of the Socialist Refoundation Party (SYKP) Istanbul co-chair Roni Gören. On June 12, 2022, the police have intervened the press declaration held in Kadıköy district of Istanbul to demand an end to isolation of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, and have detained Roni Gören by torture and ill-treatment. It is also stated in the news reports that the Ministry of Interior launched a disciplinary proceeding against 4 police officers. It is reported that Roni Gören was called to make statement as the complainant at Eyüp Sultan District Security Directorate on September 13, 2022.
(09/142) Administrative Fine for Television Channels…
It is learned from the news coverage of September 14, 2022, that the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTUK) issued Halk TV channel with and administrative fine and programme broadcast ban for 5 times, for a news report about the person who was given in a bag the body of his son who died in a clash.
It is also learned that RTUK issues Halk TV with an administrative fine for the expressions about the Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu in two programmes.
