(09/111) Allegation of Forced Disappearance in Ankara…

It is learned from the news coverage of September 14, 2021 that, Galip Küçüközyiğit, from him no news was received since December 29, 2020; is being kept in Ankara Sincan L Type Prison.  Galip Küçüközyiğit is a former reporter of the Prime Ministry living in Ankara who was dismissed from his job by a state of emergency decree.

(09/112) Torture and Ill-Treatment in Police Raid in Bingöl…

It is learned that, 2 people (Azad Gürdeğir and Ahmet Gürdeğir) were subjected to torture and ill-treatment of the police raiding a house in Kerpiksuyu village of central district of Bingöl on September 14, 2021.

A relative of these 2 people, A. Gürdeğir, stated the following to the press: “Azad Gürdeğir was attacked by 5 police officers. They beat my nephew and faced him down on the ground with handcuffs behind his back. Ahmet Gürdeğir was also subjected to police violence. They insulted and cursed us in the house too.”

It is learned that 3 people (Azad Gürdeğir, Ahmet Gürdeğir and Bermal Gürdeğir) were detained and taken to Bingöl Provincial Security Directorate.

(09/113) Police Intervention in Adana…

3 members of the Furkan Foundation who went to Adana Provincial Security Directorate to make their official statements through an investigation on September 10, 2021 were detained, and they were subjected to torture and ill-treatment under custody. The police used pepper spray and clubs to intervene the members of the Furkan Foundation including founding chair Alparslan Kuytul who was waiting for these 3 detained members in front of Adana Courthouse. It is learned that nobody was detained.

(09/114) Meeting Request with Abdullah Öcalan Not Responded…

It is learned that the appeal made on September 14, 2021 to chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan’s lawyers in order to visit him was not responded.

(09/115) Detained Journalist, ESP and SEGDF Members and Executives and Other People in Ankara, İstanbul and Antalya…

18 people who detained in Ankara, Istanbul and Antalya, thorough an investigation against the Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) and Socialist Youth Associations Federation (SGDF) on September 10, 2021, are released by the court on judicial control conditions on September 14, 2021. Detained people were: ESP Ankara provincial chair Mehmet Ali Tosun, SGDF central executive board member Şükran Yaren Tuncer, SGDF member Şirvan Çeliker, Etkin News Agency reporter Tunahan Turhan, academicians Sibel Bekiroğlu and Mehmet Mutlu, Sinan Yalçın, Şule Duman, Betül Yıldırım, Emine Kaya, Ece Şimşek, Mustafa Bayraktar, Murat Kaçar, Gökhan Cice, Tuğçe Atasağun, Gizem Yılmazer and Barış Can Altınok.

The Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) provincial executive Herdem Acar who was detained in Van on September 8, 2021 is arrested by the court on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ on September 14, 2021.

(09/117) Detained People in Diyarbakır…

2 of 4 people (E. A. and E. A.) who were detained in Kurşunlu rural neighbourhood of Dicle district of Diyarbakır, are arrested by the court on September 14, 2021. 2 other detainees are released.

(09/118) Detained Furkan Foundation Members in Adana…

3 members of the Furkan Foundation (E. E., H. A., Y. T.) who were detained as they went to Adana Provincial Security Directorate to make their official statements through an investigation on September 10, 2021 are released by the court on judicial control conditions on September 14, 2021.

(09/119) Journalist on Trial in Diyarbakır…

The first trial of the case against journalist Mahmut Oral, through the investigation against the Sarmaşık Association for Poverty Reduction and Sustainable Development, is held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 4 on September 14, 2021.

The indictment demands sentence for Mahmut Oral on the charge of ‘aiding an illegal organisation’.

After defence hearings the court decided to acquit Mahmut Oral.

(09/120) Journalist on Trial in Diyarbakır…

The trial of the case against journalist Roza Metina is held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 5 on September 14, 2021.

The prosecutor declared legal opinion on the case and demanded sentence for Roza Metina on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’. The court adjourned the trial to October 12, 2021.

(09/121) Journalist on Trial in Istanbul…

The trial of the case against Gazete Yolculuk reporter Buse Söğütlü, on the charge of ‘targeting a public officer held an anti-terror duty’ is held at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 23 on September 14, 2021. The court adjourned the trial to January 29, 2022.

(09/122) Lawyers on Trial in Istanbul…

The first trial of the case against PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan’s lawyers Rezan Sarıca, Ali Maden, Baran Doğan, Cengiz Yürekli, İnan Akmeşe, Mahmut Taşçı and Mehmet Selim Okçuoğlu) is held at Istanbul Heavy Pena Court No 33 on September 14, 2021.

The indictment demands sentence for 7 lawyers on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’.

The court rejected the lawyers’ demand to consult the Ministry of Justice for the proceedings and adjourned the trial to December 16, 2021.

(09/123) HDP Executive on Trial in Van…

The trial of the case against HDP Democratic Local Authorities Board member and Tevgera Jinên Azad – Free Women’s Movement (TJA) activist Sevil Rojbin Çetin is held at Van Heavy Penal Court No 5 on September 14, 2021.

The indictment demands sentence for Sevil Rojbin Çetin on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’.

Sevil Rojbin Çetin joined the trial from prison via sound and vision system. The court decided to continue detention of Sevil Rojbin Çetin and adjourned the trial to November 30, 2021.

Sevil Rojbin Çetin was detained on June 26, 2020 in Diyarbakır and was arrested on July 7, 2020.

(09/124) Person on Trial in Diyarbakır…

The trial of the case against Peace Mother Meryem Soylu, through the investigation against MEBYA-DER (Association of People Lost Their Relatives in the Cradle of Civilizations), is held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 5 on September 14, 2021.

The indictment demands sentence for Meryem Soylu on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’.

After defence hearings the court adjourned the trial to December 14, 2021.

(09/125) Musician on Trial in Istanbul…

The trial of the case against musician Ferhat Tunç for his social media posts is held at Istanbul Büyükçekmece Penal Court of First Instance No 14 on September 14, 2021.

The indictment demands sentence for Ferhat Tunç on the charges of ‘provoking hatred and hostility among public’ and ‘insulting the President’.

The court decided to issue a new warrant for Ferhat Tunç who lives in Germany, and adjourned the trial to January 25, 2022.

(09/126) Police Officer on Trial in Diyarbakır…

The first trial of the case against police officer K. B., for the killing of Recep Hantaş, is held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 7 on September 14, 2021. Recep Hantaş was killed by police fire while he was collecting waste paper in Diyarbakır on April 14, 2019.

The indictment demands 18 to 25 years of sentence on the charge of ‘murder with probable intent’ for the police officer.

The defendant police officer K. B. joined the trial and stated the following in his defence: “I shot to the ground while the person was running towards me”. After witness hearings the court rejected to arrest the police officer and adjourned the trial to November 9, 2021. The court also ordered a crime scene investigation on October 4, 2021.

(09/127) Ban of Access to Web Contents…

It is learned that the news report about a detained person who had attacked protestors during Gezi Park protests back then, published on www.cumhuriyet.com.tr website is banned on the grounds of violation of personal rights by Istanbul Penal Court of Peace No 3 on September 13, 2021.

(09/128) Covid-19 Pandemic…

The Ministry of Health declared that 276 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and the daily number of Covid-19 cases is 27,802 as of September 14, 2021.

The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 60,819 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 6,687,058 as of September 14, 2021.

On September 14, 3 health professionals (doctor Ibrahim Hakkı Büyükmeşe in Antep, doctor Hasan Fevzi Katıöz in Sakarya and worker Muslahat Çakır in Ankara) lost their lives due to Covid-19.
