(11/118) Torture and Ill-Treatment in Şırnak…

It is learned from the news coverage of November 15, 2022 that, 3 shepherds were subjected to torture and ill-treatment of the soldiers during the military operation in the rural areas of Şırnak.

A witness stated the following to the press: “A few days ago a group of soldiers surrounded 3 of our shepherds. They asked ‘Do you see PKK members here?’, and the shepherds said they did not see anybody. Then the soldiers beat them saying ‘Why aren’t you giving information?’. They took their clothes off and tortured them.”

(11/119) Person Injured by Police Fire in Istanbul…

It is learned from the news coverage of November 14, 2022 that, a person (İ. E.) was injured by the fire opened by the police at the Tunnel Square right after the bomb attack on Istiklal Street of Beyoğlu district of Istanbul which killed 6 people including 2 children on November 13, 2022.

It is learned from the news coverage of November 14, 2022 that, the letters ad writings of the prisoners in Diyarbakır T Type Prison were seized during ward searches.

It is learned from the news coverage of November 15, 2022 that, the number of books per prison was restricted in Mersin Tarsus Women’s Prison and a prisoner named Dilan Yörüklü was transferred to Antalya L Type Prison under coercion.

It is learned from the news coverage of November 14, 2022 that, the prisoners in Antalya S Type Prison were not referred to hospitals.

The police intervened the press declaration which was made within the scope of “I Want My Job Back Protest” in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on November 14, 2022 and forced people away from the monument by using physical violence.

(11/123) Detained Person in Eskişehir for Social Media Post…

It is learned that 1 person is detained in a house raid in Eskişehir on November 14, 2022, on the grounds of a social media post covering a bomb image. The name of the detained person could not be learned.

(11/124) Detained Person in Adana…

On November 15, 2022, 5 people including Syrian citizens were detained in house raids in Adana. The reason for detention and the names of detained people could not be learned.

(11/125) Human Rights Defender on Trial in Izmir…

The first trial of the case against Imece Solidarity Association chair and the HRFT Founders Committee member Günseli Kaya, on the charge of ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’ in her speeches about the health employees who has lost their lives during the curfews in 2016, is held at Izmir Heavy Penal Court No. 18 on November 15, 2022. The prosecutor declared legal opinion on the case and demanded acquittal as there was no elements of the crime. The court acquitted Günseli Kaya.

It is learned that the indictment of Diyarbakır Public Prosecutor’s Office against the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) former MP Aysel Tuğluk, upon the declarations of a person named T. T., was accepted by Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No. 4 on November 15, 2022. The indictment demands sentence for Aysel Tuğluk o the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ and consolidation of the case with another case on the same ground.

(11/127) Students on Trial for Participating in a Protest in Istanbul…

The trial of the case against 12 students of Boğaziçi University, who have been detained for carrying a “rainbow flag” in a protest against the new rector appointed by President, is held at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No. 24 on November 14, 2022.

The prosecutor declared legal opinion on the case and demanded sentence for 12 students up to 3 years on the charge of ‘violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations’. The court adjourned the trial to November 22, 2022.

(11/128) Ban of Events in Mardin…

Mardin Governorate’s Office made a declaration on November 14, 2022 and announced that all open door and indoor meetings, marches, press declarations, hunger strikes, opening stands and tents, collecting petition, distributing leaflets and so on are banned for 15 days as of November 15, 2022.
