(03/154) Child Died in Prison…

Mehmet Altunhan, a child who had been severely injured in the fire which broke out on 18 January 2017 at the child ward of Adana E Type Prison, lost his life on 14 March 2017 in Balcalı Hospital of Cukurova University Healt Faculty.

In same fire 2 children named Muhmammed Erdogan and Ferhat Kaya lost their lives. 4 children and 5 prison guards was injured.

(03/155) A Decision of Non-Prosecution Concerning Police Officials…

A 3,5 years of child named Tevriz Dora was killed on 11 October 2015 in Seyhan district of Adana when police forces opened fire randomly while intervening a demonstration. Adana Public Prosecutor’s Office applied to Adana Governorate to open an investigation about the police officials who were there. According to the news appeared in press on 14 March 2017, Adana Governorate did not give permission for the investigation about the police officials.

9 bodies of PKK militants who had died during the military operations in Bitlis were brought to Van Regional Training and Research Hospital. According to the news appeared in press on 14 March 2017, 9 bodies will be buried in cemetery of the nameless. Enes Keçi, who was identified by his family, was buried on 3 March 2017 at Hacilar village of Bingol’s Karlıova district.

(03/157) Hunger Strike in Prison…

Detained and convicted prisoners form PKK cases will go on hunger strike for 5 days between 15 March and 15 April 2017. The demands of the hunger strike are end to the isolation on Abdullah Ocalan and end to the violation of rights in prisons.

The hunger strikes which are on their 29th day in Sakran T Type Prison, 20th day in Edirne F Type Prison and 8th day in Van T Type Prison continue.

(03/158) Torture and other Ill-treatment in Prisons…

 According to the news in press, prisoners in Adana Kurkculer F Type Prison were beaten by the prison guards in front of their visitors just before the family visit. During this, a visitor was injured because of a chair thrown by the guards.

17 prisoners were transferred from Siirt E Type Prison to Bafra T Type Prison and Ordu E Type Prison against their will.  80 years old Hacı Isa Sezek, who was in the same  prison with his son and grand-son is among the prisoners who were transferred. The names of the prisoners transferred are as follows: Bafra T Type Prison: İsa Sezek, Emrullah Kezer, Enes İlgen, Fırat Demir, Halis Ulaş, Hüseyin Kılıç, İlyas Peltek, Halis Seven; Ordu E Type Prison: Süleyman Kutun, Süleyman Timurtaş, Şahin Kaya, Şahin Ongunlu, Şemsettin Ozgan, Teğmen Yılmaz, Vedat Elçiçek, Yusuf Selçuk and Yahya İdin.

A shortage of food occurred in the villages of Lice in which an open-ended curfew was declared on 5 March 2017. The security forces do not let anyone leave the villages. The electric and phone lines are cut in the villages. The security forces reportedly searched the houses in Tuzla village on 14 March 2017.

 HDP Van MP Adem Geveri was detained on 14 March 2017 in the hotel he was staying on the ground of an arrest warrant. After his statement was taken by the court, he was released.

(03/161) Teacher Detained from his Class in Antalya…

According to the news appeared in press on 14 March 2017, a teacher named Yuksel Caglar was detained in his classroom in Antalya for ‘insulting the Head of State.’ Caglar was brought to court on the same day and was released by the court with a judicial control condition.

(03/162) Newspaper Delivery Person Detained in Suruc…

According to the news appeared in press on 14 March 2017, the delivery person of the daily Ozgurluku Demokrasi Salih Kaplan was detained while he was riding his motorcycle. He was reportedly taken to Urfa Anti-Terror Branch.

(03/163) Detentions and Arrests…

HDP province executers Mehmet Polat and Hayrettin Ozdemir were detained on 14 March 2017 in Siirt during house raids. The detainees were taken to Gendarme Province Headquarter.

Ahmet Bahadır was detained on 14 March 2017 in the café he was sitting in Adana on the ground of an arrest warrant.

3 persons named Uğur Dirin, Mahsum Ulucan and Yener Donliwere detained on 14 MArch 2017 in Lice district of Diyarbakir. They were taken to Lice Police Headquarter.

DBP Co-chair for Bingol Yavuz Kinat, who was detained on 1 March 2017, was brought to court on 14 March 2017 and was arrested for ‘making propaganda of an illegal organization.’

Out of 28 persons who were detained on 8 and 9 March 2017 in Diyarbakır were brought to court on 14 March 2017. 2 persons named Recibe Karatay and Seyithan Cakir were arrested for ‘being a member of an illegal organization.’ 6 of them, including peace mother Havva Kiran, were released by the court with a judicial control condition.

The total number detainees in the police operation in Canakkale concerning SGDF members increased to 17. Names of the detainees are as follows:  Beser Yeklitaş, Zekiye Balık, Senem İgidicü, Esra Gündoğdu, Melodi Özçam, Neriman Uçak, Bahar Sarıgül, Aysel Masal, Ozan Aksünger, Ali Haydar Aksu, Musa Yüce, Ayhan Metin, Nazım Erip, Ali Uymaz, Can Muhammed Doğan, Devrim Karaca and Ömer Akın.

(03/164) Detentions and Arrests in Connection with the Coup d’État Attempt…

Arrest warrants were issued on 14 March 2017 in Kayseri for 27 persons. 22 of them were detained for ‘using ByLock.’

Arrest warrants were issued on 14 March 2017 for 24 lawyers, including the Chair of Kahramanmaras Bar Vahit Bagci. 19 lawyers were detained during house raids. Bagci was not reportedly at home.

(03/165) JITEM (Diyarbakir)/ Musa Anter Case…

Ankara Heavy Penal Court No 6 continued on 14 March 2017 hearing the case against 16 persons. 5 of the defendants are fugitive. The case was sent to Ankara for security reasons. Hamit Yıldirim, who is being tired with a remand, participated the hearing via SEGBIS. He made his defense. Tarik Aziz also testified in the hearing.

After taking the statements of the lawyers of defendant party and of the complainant party, the court did not release Hamit Yildirim and adjourned the hearing to 7 June 2017.

(03/166) Ozgur Gundem Main Trial…

Istanbul Heavy Penal Court continued on 14 March 2017 continued hearing the case against chief editor of the daily Ozgur Gundem Zana Kaya, editor in chief of the daily Inan Kizilkaya, publisher of the daily Kemal Sancili, members of the consultative board Asli Erdoğan, Necmiye Alpay, Filiz Kocali, Ragip Zarakolu, Bilge Aykut and columnist Eren Keskin. Inan Kaya participated the hearing via SEGBIS and made his defense. The lawyers demanded that the court should lift the ban on leaving the country concerning Asli Erdogan and Necmiye Alpay, and the judicial control condition concerning Eren Keskin. The court overrılled all the demands and adjourned the hearing to 22 June 2017.

(03/167) Person on Trial in Diyarbakir…

Diyarbakir Heavy Penal Court No 4 continued on 14 March 2017 hearing the case agains Narin Capan. The indictment wants the defendant to be sentenced for ‘being a member of an illegal organization’ and ‘making propaganda of an illegal organization.’ Following the defenses, the court sentenced Capan to 3 years imprisonment for ‘making propaganda of an illegal organization’  and acquitted him for ‘being a member of an illegal organization.’

Narin Capan was detained on 28 October 2015 with 2 Italian journalists. He was arrested on 31 March 2016 for his social media shares and the photos on his mobile phone which was confiscated by the police. He was released to be tried without a remand at the first hearing of his trial.

(03/168) Constitutional Referendum…

Unknown persons open fire to HDP office in Avcilar district of Istanbul 14 March 2017. Nobody was reportedly injured or died.

A group of 20 persons who were allegedly AKP members attacked and beat on 14 March 2017 in Cerkezkoy district of Tekirdag 2 persons who were delivering No leaflets.

A group of people who were allegedly AKP members attack a vehicle which was for the NO campaign and beat its driver.

According to the news in pres on 14 March 2017, s vehicle which was used for the NO campaign was not let in the Eminonu square by the municipal police of the Eminonu Municipality. The vehicles which are used in the YES campaign were let in the square.

(03/169) Collected Newroz Bannes…

            According to the news appeared in press on 14 March 2017, the banners of HDP about Newroz were collected from 50 billboards in Urfa on the ground of a court decision. Urfa Penal Court of First Instance No 2 gave this decision because of the colors yellow, red, green and a hand making the victory sign.
