(07/108) Torture and Other Ill-Treatment in Prison…
On July 16, 2025, it is learned from news coverage of July 16, 2025 that, Emin Gurban, an ill prisoner in Konya Ereğli High Security Prison was kept in a single room and his demand to be transferred to a room for 3 people was rejected by the prison administration. It is also stated in the news reports that Emin Gurban was forced to take his medication in front of the camera every day and that the prisoner refused to take his medication because of this imposition.
(07/109) Prisoner Prevented from Right to Access to Health in Prison…
On July 15, 2025 it is learned from the news coverage of July 15, 2025 that, Agit Yanar, a prisoner in Istanbul Marmara (Silivri) Prison, who broke his finger while doing sports in his ward, was given only painkillers without any orthopedic intervention at the prison infirmary. It is also stated in the news reports that prisoner was given an appointment for February 2026 for hospital transfer upon his lawyer’s application.
(07/110) IBB Mayor on Trial…
The final hearing of the lawsuit filed against Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu due to his statements on Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor was held on July 16, 2025 at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 14. The court sentenced Ekrem İmamoğlu to 1 year 5 months and 15 days for ‘publicly insulting a public official because of his duty’ and 2 months and 15 days for ‘threatening’, for a total of 1 year and 8 months. The court acquitted Ekrem İmamoğlu on the charge of ‘targeting people who took part in the fight against terrorism’.
(07/111) Mayor on Trial in Istanbul…
The first trial of the case against Ahmet Özer, the trustee-appointed mayor of Esenyurt district of Istanbul, started on July 14, 2025 at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 14. The indictment demands sentence for Ahmet Özer on the charge of ‘being an illegal organization member’. The court released Ahmet Özer on judicial control conditions and adjourned the trial to November 3, 2025. It is learned that Ahmet Özer is not released because he was arrested through another investigation on January 21, 2025.
Ahmet Özer was arrested on October 30, 2024.

An investigation was initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office against BirGün reporter Sarya Toprak due to ‘publicly disseminating misleading information’ upon the complaint of Istanbul Bakırköy Women’s Prison administration for her news reports on a prisoner, and within the scope of the investigation, Sarya Toprak gave a statement to the prosecutor’s office on July 14, 2025.

Özgür Kabadayı, mayor of Şile district of Istanbul, who was arrested on July 14, 2025, is suspended by the Ministry of Interior on July 15, 2025.
(07/114) Canceled Event in Sivas…
On July 15, 2025, it is learned from news coverage of July 15, 2025 that an event organized by trans woman Çağla Akalın in Sivas on July 26, 2025 was cancelled due to reactions.
Regarding the event, Mil-Diyanetsen Sivas Branch President İsa Kukuş stated the following: “In a conservative city like Sivas, the authorities should not allow such so-called gay LGBT artists to perform (…) In this context, it is still unknown why such organizations are allowed while LGBT perversion, which directly targets the family structure, continues through so-called artists, so-called famous names.”

On July 15, 2025 it is learned from news coverage of July 15, 2025 that, Berat Kaşkaloğlu, who opened a banner with the slogan “Trustee will go, we will stay” at the diploma ceremony at Boğaziçi University in Istanbul, was cancelled by the graduate school and his graduation card was cancelled and he was banned from entering the university.

It is learned that 3 news reports on https://www.diken .com.tr/, https://www.haberturk.com/ , https://www.ntv.com.tr/ websites about the demolition decision of some hotels and restaurants on Istanbul Bosphorus are banned to access on the grounds of national security and protection of public order by Istanbul Court of First Instance No. 4 on July 11, 2025.

Şırnak Governorate made a declaration on July 16, 2025 and announced that Dilekyolu, Tuzluca, Ayrancı, Çığlıca and İncebel Mountains areas in Beytüşşebap district of Şırnak province are declared as temporary special security zones for 9 days between July 17, 2025 and July 25, 2025.

On July 15, 2025, 252 people are detained in operations covering 60 cities through an Izmir based investigation on the allegations of financing an illegal organization.

On July 15, 2025, 51 people are detained in operations covering 15 cities through an Istanbul based investigation on the allegations of being a member of the current structure of the organization.

On July 15, 2025, 26 people are detained in operations covering 9 cities through an Istanbul based investigation on the allegations of financing an illegal organization. It is learned that trustees were appointed to two companies, Hakmar and Tatbak, through the investigation.
