It is learned from the news coverage of May 13, 2024, that 1 village guard (Çetin Şeylan) died due to a lightning strike in the rural areas of the Çatak district of Van.

It is learned from the news coverage of May 13, 2024, that the release of Dijwar Nesri İsmail, a prisoner in Afyon T Type Prison No 1 who has been in prison for 32 years, was postponed 7 times for various reasons by Prison Administration and Observation Board, although he completed his sentence on September 5, 2021; and that the prison director threatened Dijwar Nesri İsmail by saying “You cannot get out while I am here”.
It is learned from the news coverage of May 14, 2024, that Tokat Execution Judgeship approved the video and audio recordings of lawyer meetings of political prisoners in Tokat T Type Prison for 3 months by a decision taken in 2021; and that this decision was extended 11 times and this practice is continuing. It is also reported in the news that lawyer Ahmet Taş appealed the decision to Tokat Heavy Penal Court No 1.

It is learned that the appeal made on May 14, 2024, to the chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by lawyers in order to visit their clients PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, Ömer Hayri Konar, Hamili Yıldırım and Veysi Aktaş in İmralı Prison was not responded.

The press statement of Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Izmir Provincial Organization, which was to be held in front of the Türkan Saylan Cultural Center in the Konak district on May 13, 2024, in connection with the Kobane Case, for which the final hearing will be held on May 16, 2024, was prevented by the police.

It is learned that the press statement of Med Federation of Legal and Solidarity Associations of Prisoners’ Families (MEDTUHAD-FED), Tevgera Jinên Azad (TJA), Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Diyarbakır Provincial Organization, Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Diyarbakır Provincial Organization and prisoners’ relatives, which was to be held in front of Diyarbakır D Type Prison on May 13, 2024, within the scope of ‘Give Voice to Freedom’ protest demanding an end to the isolation of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan and a democratic solution to the Kurdish issue, was prevented by the police. It is also stated in the news reports that the police kept journalists away from the venue.

It is learned from the news coverage of May 13, 2024, that the child (16, k) who was detained in the Sarıyer district of Istanbul on May 12, 2024, on the grounds of swearing while President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s motorcade was passing by, was released by Istanbul Criminal Peace Judgeship No 1 on judicial control condition on May 13, 2024.

The trial of the case against journalist Mehmet Şah Oruç continued on May 14, 2024, at Bitlis Heavy Penal Court No 2. The indictment demands a sentence for the journalist on the charges of ‘being a member of an illegal organization’ and ‘making propaganda for an illegal organization’. The court decided to lift the signature requirement and to continue the ban on leaving the country and adjourned the trial to September 26, 2024.

The final hearing of the case filed by the Governorate of Istanbul against Tarlabaşı Community Support Association was held on May 14, 2024, at Istanbul 8th Civil Court of Peace. The court decided to dismiss the case.

It is learned from the news coverage of May 13, 2024, that 6 proceedings demanding a lift of immunity for 5 parliamentary members were sent to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.

The Ministry of Interior announced on May 14, 2024, that 544 people were detained in operations conducted in 62 provinces.
