It is learned from the news coverage of June 14, 2023 that ill prisoner Sinan Karaer in Erzurum Dumlu High Security Prison was sentenced to deprivation of his communication rights for 16 months as a result of the disciplinary proceedings against him.
It is claimed in the news reports of June 14, 2023 that a baby among the visitors of a prisoner in Kırşehir S Type Prison was subjected to strip search.

It is learned that a child named K. S. T. was detained in a house raid in Antalya on June 14, 2023, for carrying a flag with Mahir Çayan’s picture on it in 1 May demonstrations.

It is learned from the news coverage of June 14, 2023 that, the final trial of the case against journalist İdris Yılmaz who was subjected to physical attack during news reporting was held at Van Erciş Penal Court of First Instance No. 2 on June 6, 2023. The court considered the journalist’s camera as a weapon sentenced İdris Yılmaz to 4 months and 15 days on the charge of ‘intentional injury’. The court sentenced Ş. Y., the person who attacked İdris Yılmaz to a penalty fine of 3,800 Turkish Liras and 10 months and 15 days of prison on the charge of ‘intentional injury’.
On October 14, 2017, journalists İdris Yılmaz and Erhan Akbaş, who wanted to report on the coastal road project tender of Erciş Municipality were attacked by Ş. Y. and his relatives.

The final trial of the case against Birgün newspaper’s executive board chair İbrahim Aydın, editor-in-chief Mustafa Kömüş and policy editor Gökay Başcan over a news report was held at Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No. 2 on June 14, 2023. The court sentenced Gökay Başcan to 1 year 11 months and 10 days on the charges of ‘insulting a public officer’ and ‘insulting the President’ and postponed the sentence. The court acquitted İbrahim Aydın and Mustafa Kömüş.

The retrial of the case against journalists Ahmet Altan, Nazlı Ilıcak, Fevzi Yazıcı and Yakup Şimşek is held at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No. 26 on June 13, 2023 as the earlier verdicts were overturned by the Court of Cassation. The court adjourned the trial to October 26, 2023.

The final trial of the case against Silvan Mücadele newspaper’s executive editor Ferhat Parlak is held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No. 11 on June 14, 2023. The court dismissed the case on the grounds of repeated trial.

The retrial of the case against 5 people including the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) former provincial co-chairs Aynur Yılmaz and Mehmet Akbaş and journalist Emrah Çaçan is held at Bursa Heavy Penal Court No. 8 on June 14, 2023 as the Bursa Regional Court has overturned the court’s earlier verdicts. The indictment demands sentence for 5 people on the charge of ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’. After defence hearings the court adjourned the trial to September 28, 2023.

The trial of the case against Women’s Academy member Figen Aras through the investigation against Rosa Women’s Association is held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No. 10 on June 14, 2023. The indictment demands sentence for Figen Aras on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’. After defence hearings the court adjourned the trial to December 3, 2023.
Figen Aras was detained on April 5, 2021 and was arrested on April 8, 2021. The court has released her at the first trial on September 22, 2021. She was detained once again on November 29, 2022 through the Ankara based investigation against Tevgera Jînen Azad – Free Women’s Movement (TJA) activists and was arrested by the court on December 3, 2022.

The final trial of the case against musicians İlyas Arzu and Jiyan Savcı is held at Adana Heavy Penal Court No. 2 on June 14, 2023. The court sentenced İlyas Arzu to 6 years and 3 months on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ and acquitted Jiyan Savcı.

The trial of the news case against 10 people regarding the murder of Hrant Dink, including Yasin Hayal, one of the instigators of the murder, and former police chiefs Ramazan Akyürek and Ali Fuat Yılmazer, is held at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No. 14. The indictment demands sentence for the defendants on the charges of ‘attempting to overthrow the constitutional order’, ‘being an illegal organisation member’ and ‘intentional killing’. After defence hearings, the court adjourned the trial to September 20, 2023.

The trial of the case against a police officer named M. K. regarding death of Mihraç Miroğlu (7) after being hit by an armoured police vehicle in İdil district of Şırnak on September 3, 2021 is held at İdil Penal Court of First Instance on June 14, 2023. The indictment demands sentence for the defendant police officer on the charge of ‘negligent killing’. The court rejected intervention demand of Şırnak Bar Association Children’s and Women’s Rights Commission and adjourned the trial to June 20, 2023.
(06/160) The Case Regarding Killing of Asylum Seekers in Izmir…
The trial of the case against Kemal Korukmaz, regarding the murder of Syrian asylum seekers Ahmed el Ali, Memnun Nebhan and Muhammed Hüseyin el Abdo by burning in their workplace in Güzelbahçe district of Izmir on November 16, 2021, is held at Izmir Heavy Penal Court No. 1 on June 14, 2023. It is learned that in the report sent by the Forensic Medicine Institute, requested in the previous trial, regarding Kemal Korukmaz’s mentally stability, it was stated that the defendant’s criminal capacity was full. The defendant dismissed his lawyer at the trial, and the court decided to continue the detention of the defendant and adjourned the trial to October 4, 2023.

Siirt Governorate’s Office made a declaration on June 13, 2023 and banned all open-door meetings and demonstrations, mass gatherings and greetings, press declarations of the institutions outside of their buildings, sit-in protests, meetings, opening tents and stands, collecting petitions, commemorations, festivals, concerts, plays and so on for 15 days as of June 13, 2023.

On June 14, 2023, 28 people were detained in Istanbul and 23 people were detained in Mersin.
