It is learned from the news coverage of July 13, 2023 that, in Kırıkkale F Type Closed Prison, the prisoners were prevented from their social and sports rights and their personal belongings were damaged during ward searches.

It is learned from the news coverage of July 13, 2023 that, in Kırıkkale F Type Closed Prison the prisoners were forced to mouth search during hospital transfers.

It is learned from the news coverage of July 14, 2023 that, an ill prisoner named Gönül Erdoğan in Kocaeli Gebze Women’s Prison was not receiving medical treatment and the exercise material she needs for treatment was not given to her.

(07/119) Meeting Request with Abdullah Öcalan Not Responded…

It is learned that the appeal made on July 14, 2023 to the chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by families and tutelary of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, and Ömer Hayri Konar, Hamili Yıldırım and Veysi Aktaş in Imralı Prison, in order to visit them was not responded.

(07/120) Detained People in Mersin…

It is learned that 11 people were detained on July 14, 2023 in Mersin through the investigation on the grounds of ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’ at the Newroz celebration in the city. The names of detained people are unknown.

(07/121) Detained HDP Members and Executives in Balıkesir…

It is learned that 2 of 4 people [the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Balıkesir provincial executive Abdulhalim Aksu and HDP member Serdar Kocaman] who were detained in Balıkesir on July 11, 2023, are arrested by the court on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ on July 13, 2023. 2 people (Edremit district co-chair Emrah İşler, Bandırma district executive Baran Aşar) are released on judicial control conditions.

It is learned from the news coverage of July 13, 2023 that, 2 people (Resul Kaya and Abdullah Ekin) were detained in house raids in Bana village of Güçlükonak district of Şırnak on July 13, 2023 and were taken to Şırnak Provincial Gendarmerie Command. The reason for detention is unknown.

(07/123) Arrested ESP Members in Edirne…

It is learned that 3 members (Orhan Çelebi, Ömer Akgün and Fadime Çelebi) of the Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) who were detained in house raids in Edirne on July 13, 2023, are arrested by the court on the same day.

(07/124) Journalist on Trial in Istanbul…

The indictment of Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office against journalist Merdan Yanardağ, over his expressions about the isolation of the PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan on a television programme, is accepted by Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No. 30 on July 14, 2023. The indictment demands sentence for Merdan Yanardağ on the charges of ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’ and ‘praising offence and offender’. It is learned that the first trial will be held on October 4, 2023. Merdan Yanardağ was detained on June 25, 2023 and was arrested by the court on June 27, 2023. The court rejected the appeal for his arrest on July 13, 2023.

(07/125) Arrested MP Not Released…

The application made to the Court of Cassation by the Workers Party of Turkey (TİP) Hatay MP Can Atalay’s lawyers, who was elected on May 14, 2023, for release of him in accordance with Article 83 of the Constitution was rejected on July 13, 2023. Can Atalay was sentenced to 18 years in prison and arrested for ‘helping to overthrow the government’ at the final trial of the case known as the Gezi Case on April 25, 2022.

(07/126) The Case Against Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor…

It is learned from the news coverage of July 14, 2023, that the indictment of Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office against Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu on the grounds of insulting Tuzla district mayor Şadi Yazıcı was accepted by the court. The indictment demands sentence for Ekrem İmamoğlu on the charge of ‘insulting a public official’ and a political ban should be imposed on him. It is learned that the first trial of the case will be held on November 30, 2023.
