“It has been learned that on January 14, 2025, in Bağcılar district of Istanbul, unidentified individuals entered a home housing Syrian refugees/asylum seekers and attacked two children with stones, resulting in the death of a 12-year-old girl, M.S. Another child was injured in the attack. Z.A. has been taken into custody in connection with the incident.”

It is learned from the news coverage of 13 January 2025 that, the release of Lokman Yalçın, a prisoner in Bitlis Ahlat T Type Prison, who completed the execution of her 7 years and 6 months prison sentence, was postponed by the Prison Administration and Observation Board (CİGK) for 3 months for the 4th time. The release of Lokman Yalçın was postponed before 2 times for 4 months and 1 time for 3 months.

It is learned that the appeal made on January 14, 2025, to the chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by lawyers in order to visit their clients PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, Ömer Hayri Konar, Hamili Yıldırım and Veysi Aktaş in İmralı Prison was not responded.

K.B.D. was detained on January 13, 2025, in İzmir on allegations of ‘insulting religious values’, ‘insulting Atatürk’, and ‘insulting the memory of a person’ through social media posts. On January 14, 2025, K.B.D. was arrested by criminal peace judgeship.

It is alleged in the news coverage of January 14, 2025 that an unnamed academic at the Department of Kurdish Language and Literature at Muş Alparslan University is under investigation by the department head due to the books they assigned in their course. The news report also stated that no ban has been imposed on the books that were cited as the reason for the investigation.
