It is learned from the news coverage of December 14, 2023, that families of the participants of the We Will Stop Femicides Platform (KCDP) in Istanbul were called and threatened by people claiming to be police officers following the protests on November 25, 2023. It is reported that KCDP members filed a criminal complaint.

It is learned from the news coverage of December 13, 2023, that visits to Menemen T Type Closed Prison were interrupted due to the intervention of a correctional officer. It is learned that the correctional officers assaulted the prisoners and took them to their wards, and the visitors were taken out of the prison.
Mahmut Yalçın, one of the relatives of prisoners who made a press statement in front of the prison, made the following remarks about the torture and ill-treatment in prison: “We went to the prison for visits. We didn’t want any problems. But that guard was constantly shouting and trying to prevent us from sitting next to each other. He told us, ‘They will sit in front, and you will sit in the back.’ When the families reacted to this, they dragged our children in front of us, beat them, and ended our visit. Despite all our efforts, the authorities did not meet with us. As a result of our insistence and applications, the prison director came and only said ‘no problem'”.

It is learned from the news coverage of December 13, 2023, that the electricity distribution company carried out an inspection with the police in the Orman neighborhood of the Yüksekova district of Hakkari on the grounds of ‘illegal electricity,’ and the police intervened with pepper spray and rubber bullets when residents of the neighborhood reacted against the inspection conducted with police officers.

The final trial of the case against journalist Ertuğrul Mavioğlu and director Çayan Demirel for ‘making propaganda for an illegal organization’ in Batman Heavy Penal Court No 2 for the documentary Bakur (Kuzey) was held on December 14, 2023. The court sentenced 2 people to 2 years and 1 month each for ‘making propaganda for an illegal organization’.

The final hearing of the case against MA reporter Ahmet Kanbal, on the grounds of ‘publicly disseminating misleading information’ through his news reports and social media posts on the alleged disappearance of a ballot box in the May 14, 2023 elections, was held on December 14, 2023, at Mardin Heavy Penal Court No 1. The court acquitted Ahmet Kanbal.

The first trial of the case against Sedat Yılmaz, editor of Mezopotamya Agency (MA), started on December 14, 2023, at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 4. The indictment demands a sentence for Sedat Yılmaz on the charges of ‘being a member of an illegal organization’ and ‘establishing an illegal organization’. The court released Sedat Yılmaz on judicial control condition and adjourned the trial to February 29, 2024.
Sedat Yılmaz was detained on April 29, 2023 and arrested by the court on May 2, 2023.

It is learned that Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office initiated an investigation against MA Managing Editor Diren Yurtsever due to ‘making propaganda for an illegal organization’ and ‘targeting’ through a news report on Kobane Trial, and Diren Yurtsever gave her statement on December 13, 2023.

It is learned from the news coverage of December 14, 2023, that an investigation was initiated against Republican People’s Party (CHP) consultant Ali Taştan for his article titled “What is the reason for Yusuf Tekin’s insistence on interviews? How did the person who brought interviews to the Ministry violate the rights of thousands of people?” and that Ali Taştan gave a statement on December 14, 2023.

A person (H.M.G.) with a finalized prison sentence in Osmaniye was arrested and sent to prison after being detained.
