It has been reported that Mehmet Çeviren, an inmate held at the Batman Beşiri High-Security Prison, lost his life on April 13, 2026. News reports claim that Mehmet Çeviren committed suicide.

(04/087) Child Subjected to Police Physical Violence in Diyarbakır…

It was reported that a child named Ş.U. (16, male) was subjected to physical violence by police on the street in the Yenişehir district of Diyarbakır on April 4, 2026.

Sezin Uçar, Deputy Co-Chair of the Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP), was detained at Istanbul Airport on April 13, 2026.

It was reported that Mücahit Cevheroğlu, a member of the Executive Board of the Mardin Branch of the Health and Social Services Workers’ Union (SES), was detained on April 12, 2026, as part of an investigation into a social media account not belonging to him, and was released the same day following his interrogation at the police station.

(04/090) Individuals Detained in Samsun on the Grounds of Social Media Posts…

It was reported that on April 11, 2026, a person working at a construction site in the Bafra district of Samsun was detained on the grounds of “making organization propaganda” and “inciting the public to hatred and hostility” based on Kurdish songs shared during a live broadcast on social media, and was released after giving a statement to the police. It was reported that the two individuals were subjected to racist comments and threats during the live stream.

(047/091) Municipal Employee Arrested in Ankara…

Four municipal employees detained as part of an investigation into the Ankara Etimesgut Municipality were referred to the magistrate’s court on April 14, 2026. The court ordered the detention of one person on charges of “embezzlement” while ruling that the other three be released under judicial supervision.

The final hearing in the case filed against Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, the former Chairman of the Republican People’s Party (CHP), at the Mersin Criminal Court of First Instance No. 3—on the grounds of a speech he delivered—was held on April 13, 2026. The court sentenced Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu to 11 months and 20 days in prison for the crime of “insulting the President.”

The final hearing in the case filed against journalists Şule Aydın, Barış Pehlivan, Murat Ağırel, and Timur Soykan at the Istanbul Bakırköy Criminal Court of First Instance No. 34, on the grounds of remarks they made during a television program, was held on April 14, 2026. The Heavy Penal Court sentenced Timur Soykan to 10 months in prison for “violation of confidentiality,” Barış Pehlivan and Murat Ağırel to 1 year and 3 months each for “publicly disseminating misleading information,” while acquitting Şule Aydın.

The final hearing of the case filed against journalist Zafer Arapkirli at the Istanbul Criminal Court of First Instance No. 23 was held on April 14, 2026 on the grounds of a social media post. The court sentenced the journalist to 2 years and 6 months in prison for the crime of “publicly disseminating misleading information” and acquitted him of the charge of “inciting the public to hatred and hostility.”

The final hearing in the case filed against journalist Hakkı Boltan at the Diyarbakır Criminal Court of First Instance No. 12 was held on April 14, 2026. The court sentenced Hakkı Boltan to 1 year, 2 months, and 17 days in prison for the crime of “insulting the President.”

The trial of journalist Berivan Kutlu at the Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No. 4 continued on April 14, 2026. The indictment seeks to punish the journalist for the crime of “making organization propaganda.” The court adjourned the hearing until July 16, 2026.

(04/097) The Publisher and Publishing House Employee on Trial in Diyarbakır…

The trial of Hakkı Boltan, owner of Aram Publications, and Delil Zengeralp, an employee of the publishing house, began on April 14, 2026, at the Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No. 4. The case was filed on the grounds of two books seized by the police at the Aram Publications booth during a book fair held in Diyarbakır in 2024.

The indictment seeks to punish both individuals for the crime of “making organization propaganda.” The court adjourned the hearing until July 16, 2026.

(07/098) The Trial of a Lawyer in Istanbul…

The final hearing in the case against Lawyer Ruken Gülağacı, filed at the Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No. 23 as part of an investigation targeting the Peoples’ Democratic Congress (HDK), was held on April 13, 2026. The court acquitted Ruken Gülağacı of the charge of “being a member of an organization.”

(04/099) The Trial of a Party Staff Member in Ankara…

The final hearing in the case against CHP staff member Gökhan Gülyurt, who was accused of driving a party bus toward police officers who had ordered him to stop, was held on April 13, 2026, at the Ankara Criminal Court of First Instance No. 72. The court sentenced Gökhan Gülyurt to 7 months and 15 days in prison for the charge of “repeatedly resisting the performance of duty.”

(04/100) Social Media Account Subject to Access Block…

It was reported that the Instagram account named “İstanbul Yargılıyor,” which shared updates on the trial of the Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor, was subject to an access block under Article 8 of Law No. 5651 on the grounds of protecting national security and public order, and that the account was made inaccessible from Turkey.

(04/101) Individuals Detained as Part of an Istanbul-Based Investigation…

On April 14, 2026, 17 individuals—including 15 doctors currently serving in public hospitals—were detained during operations conducted in 12 provinces as part of an Istanbul-based investigation. They were detained on the grounds that their names appeared in messages within the “ByLock” program and that they had participated in a TUS camp organized via cellular networks.
