Minister of Justice Abdülhamit Gül declared on April 13, 2020 that 3 prisoners in open prisons died from Covid-19. The Minister also stated that 17 prisoners and 70 correction officers have tested positive for Covid-19.

It is learned from the news coverage of April 13, 2020 that 20 prisoners in Van T Type Prison were subjected to physical violence of the wardens on April 5, 2020, for rejecting to stand in military order during roll-calls.
(04/096) Police Intervention Against “I Want My Job Back” Protest in Ankara…
The police intervened the press declarations of public labourers who had been dismissed by a state of emergency decree and have been struggling 1252 days to regain their jobs, in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on April 13, 2020 at 13.30 and at 18.00, and forced people away from the monument by using physical violence.

The police intervened the protestors in front of Çankaya Public Health Directorate on April 13, 2020, who rally to regain their jobs from which they had been dismissed by state of emergency decrees, and detained 2 people (Mahmut Konuk and Nazan Bozkurt who was recording the protest). It is learned that 2 people were released the same day.

The police prevented the press declaration of Open Our Hospital Platform (HAP), demanding re-opening of hospitals which were closed down because of Covid-19, in front of Ankara Numune Hospital on April 13, 2020. It is learned from the news reports that journalists recording the declaration were also prevented by the police.

(04/100) The Case Against Former Co-mayor and Former DBP Co-chair…
Malatya Heavy Penal Court No 5 has sentenced Gültan Kışanak, former co-mayor of Diyarbakır, to 14 years and 3 months; and Sebahat Tuncel, former co-chair of Democratic Regions Party (DBP), to 15 years; and Penal Department No 18 of Antep Regional Court has reversed the verdict.
The court ruled to continue detention of Gültan Kışanak and Sebahat Tuncel over review of the file without trial on April 13, 2020 and adjourned the trial to May 29, 2020.

It is learned that Rize Penal Court of Peace banned access to the news report “Full of Packages of Corona at Çaykur Factory! Çaykur worker who had Corona Rises Up” published on www.rizenabiz.com website, on April 13, 2020.
(04/104) Covid-19 Pandemic…
President declared on April 13, 2020 that a 48-hour curfew as a part of precautions for Covid-19 pandemic will be imposed as of 00.00 on April 18, 2020 in 31 cities including 30 metropolitan cities, excepting individuals and institutions stated in the circular.
It is learned from data shared by Izmir Chamber of Medicine on April 13, 2020 that 266 health workers including 106 doctors, 82 nurses, delivery nurses and medical assistants, 30 health officers, 12 medical secretaries, 10 technicians, 19 public officers, 3 pharmacists, 1 psychologist, 2 security staff and 1 driver, in Izmir tested positive for Covid-19.
Ministry of Health declared that 98 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and 4,093 new Covid-19 cases were diagnosed on April 13, 2020.
The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 1,296 and total number of confirmed cases is 61,049 as of April 13, 2020.
