(03/070) Prevented March in Malatya…

The march planned to be organized by the Left Party on March 16, 2026 to the NATO Kürecik Radar Base in Kürecik district of Malatya was prevented by the gendarmerie. No one was detained.

(03/071) Arrested Trade Union Chairperson in Antep…

BİRTEK-SEN Chairperson Mehmet Türkmen, who was detained on the grounds of his speech at a workers’ demonstration in Antep on May 15, 2026, is arrested by the criminal court of peace on May 16, 2026 on the charge of ‘provoking hatred and hostility among people’.

(03/072) Detained Political Party Executive and Other People in Aydın…

4 people including Republican People’s Party (CHP) district youth branch chair Mustafa Kemal Koç, who were detained on March 12, 2026 on the charges of ‘insulting the President’ and ‘insulting a public officer’ for posters in Nazilli district of Aydın, are released by the criminal court of peace on judicial control conditions on March 13, 2026.

(03/073) Detained People in Antalya…

12 of 36 people including former deputy mayor, municipality executives and employees who were detained on March 10, 2026 within the scope of an investigation against Antalya Manavgat Municipality were arrested by the Criminal Judgeship of Peace on March 13, 2026 on charges of ‘establishing a criminal organization’, ‘embezzlement’, ‘extortion’, ‘bribery’, ‘bid rigging’, ‘laundering assets derived from crime’. 24 people were released, 12 of them on judicial control conditions.

(03/074) Detained People in Mersin…

7 of 26 people who were detained on March 11 and 15, 2026 within the scope of an investigation against Mersin Metropolitan Municipality, were arrested by the Criminal Judgeship of Peace on March 15, 2023 due to ‘bid rigging’, ‘bribery’ and ‘forgery of official documents’. 19 people were released, 15 of them on judicial control conditions.

(03/075) Detained Former Mayor and Other People in Antalya…

Out of 19 people detained on March 11, 2026 through an investigation against Antalya’s Döşemealtı Municipality, 2 people including former Mayor Turgay Genç were detained by the criminal court of peace on March 14, 2026. 17 people were released on judicial control conditions.

(03/076) Former MPs on Trial…

The trial of the case against Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) former co-chair Figen Yüksekdağ and former MPs Çağlar Demirel, İdris Baluken, Ertuğrul Kürkçü, Saadet Becerikli, Mehmet Ali Aslan, Ahmet Yıldırım and Altan Tan, for their visit to Silvan district of Diyarbakır during curfews in 2015, is held at Silvan Criminal Court of First Instance on March 12, 2026. The indictment demands sentence for 7 people on the charges of ‘resisting to prevent duty’, ‘insulting a public officer for his duty’, ‘insulting the President’. The court adjourned the trial to June 3, 2026.

(03/077) Police Officer on Trial in Diyarbakır…

On March 16, 2026, the final hearing of the retrial of the case related to Şahin Öner, who lost his life when he was hit by an armoured police vehicle during the protests organized in Diyarbakır on February 10, 2013 to mark the anniversary of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan’s return to Turkey, was held after Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 1 reversed the sentence of 4 years 5 months and 10 days given to the driver of the armoured vehicle, police officer S.K., on the grounds of ‘incomplete investigation and research’ by Criminal Chamber No 3 of Diyarbakır Regional Court of Appeals. The court sentenced the police officer to 2 years and 6 months on the charge of ‘causing death with conscious negligence’.

(03/078) Nihat Kazanhan Case…

On March 13, 2026, the retrial of the case against special operations police officer M.N.G., after the Constitutional Court’s ruling on violation of the right to life of Nihat Kazanhan (12, m), who was killed by police fire in Cizre district of Şırnak in 2015, continued at Cizre Heavy Penal Court No 1. It is learned that the defendant police officer, who is wanted by a red bulletin, was found to be abroad. The court adjourned the trial to June 13, 2026.

(03/079) ‘No Prosecution’ Decision on Torture and Ill-Treatment Allegation in Eskişehir…

It is learned from the news coverage of March 14, 2026 that, Eskişehir Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office decided ‘not to prosecute’ the criminal complaint against 5 people who were subjected to torture and ill-treatment during the police intervention to the protests in Eskişehir for the detention of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor, on the grounds that the police intervention was proportionate.

(03/080) Access Ban on Social Media Accounts…

It is learned from the news coverage of March 13, 2026 that the Instagram account of Mezopotamya News Agency is banned to access.

It is learned from the news coverage of March 16, 2026 that, academician Kubilay Kaptan’s X social media account is banned to access on the grounds of protection of national security and public order, through Article 8/A of Law No 5651.
