It is learned from the news coverage of October 1, 2021 that, journalist Nedim Türfent who is kept in Van T Type Closed Prison, is not given the books sent to him and that the letter he wrote about right violations in the prison was censored.

It is learned that the appeal made on October 12, 2021 to chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan’s lawyers in order to visit him was not responded.

On October 12, 2021, 5 people including Antalya Community House chair Gülkan Gülseven, the Socialist Refoundation Party (SYKP) Party Assembly member Taylan Sönmez, and the Workers’ Party of Turkey (TİP) executive Enes Keskin, are detained in house raids in Antalya.

The final trial of the case against journalist Ruşen Takva, for reporting a press declaration, is held at Van Heavy Penal Court No 2 on October 12, 2021. The court acquitted Ruşen Takva.

The trial of the case against 23 people including lawyers Sezin Uçar, Özlem Gümüştaş and Gülhan Kaya from Law Office of the Oppressed; Etkin News Agency news editor İsminaz Temel and reporter Havva Cuştan, and members and executives of Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) is held at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 27 on October 12, 2021. The court rejected to lift judicial control conditions and adjourned the trial to February 15, 2022.

The final trial of the case against German citizen Mahmut Güneş is held at Kırşehir Heavy Penal Court on October 12, 2021. The court sentenced Mahmut Güneş to 2 years and 9 months on the charge of ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’ and decided to continue detention of him. Mahmut Güneş has been detained and arrested on an alleged report on August 1, 2021, at Kayseri Airport as he arrived from Germany.

It is learned that an investigation was launched against 5 people, upon the complaint of Naci İnci, the rector appointed to Boğaziçi University by the President. It is learned that 5 people who are being investigated for participating in the protest against Naci İnci, made their official statements at the prosecutor’s office and were released by the court on judicial control conditions.

It is learned from the news coverage of October 12, 2021 that, the Security Directorate General launched an investigation against a provincial deputy police chief, on the grounds of committing physical violence to a police officer (M. A.) in Ankara.
It is stated in the news reports that M. A. was appointed to Nizip district of Antep afterwards, where he attempted suicide.
The Security Directorate General made the following statement: “It is understood that the incident took place in Kahramankazan district on 26.11.2022, and following the inquiry of Ankara Provincial Security Directorate, it was decided to not to put the investigation in in process and Kahramankazan Public Prosecutor’s Office has decided non-prosecution on 19.03.2021. As a result of the appeal of the police officer to Kahramankazan Public Prosecutor’s Office, an investigation request was made to Ankara Governorate’s Office on 14.09.2021 is sent to the Security Directorate General on 29.09.2021, and the investigation is still going on.”

It is learned that İdil District Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation against Elfesya Nas, provincial council member from the Peoples’ Democratic Party and musician Abdullah Ayav, for an event to commemorate Miraç Miroğlu, a child who died after being hit by a police armoured vehicle in Şırnak. It is learned that Elfesya Nas made her official statement at Idil Security Directorate on October 12, 2021.

It is learned from the news coverage of October 12, 2021 that, Adana Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation against 25 people, for participating in the commemoration on August 20, 2021, for Mustafa Özenç who was executed after the military coup on September 12, 1980. It is learned that 25 people have made their official statements through the investigation at Adana Provincial Security Directorate.

It is claimed in the news coverage of October 12, 2021 that, 42 citizen of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, including former president Mustafa Akıncı, journalists and politicians, are banned from entering Turkey on the grounds of “threatening national safety of Turkey”.

On October 12, 2021, 8 people are detained in Edirne in an alleged attempt to illegally cross to Greece; 26 people are detained in Istanbul and 7 people are detained in Ankara.

The Ministry of Health declared that 237 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and the daily number of Covid-19 cases is 33,860 as of October 12, 2021.
The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 67,031 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 7,470,498 as of October 12, 2021.
